This is the meanest looking LX car of the bunch, which in case you have been off continent for the last two years include Chryslers adrenaline inducing 300, and the equally tantalizing Dodge Magnum sport wagon. Charger has been positioned to take on mid- to full-size models of all sorts, and with a range beginning at $22,320 it offers a lot of car for the money. The same business proposition holds true throughout the line, with the range-topping SRT8 possibly offering the best "bang-for-the-buck" in the auto industry - period!
What grounds do I have for such a bold claim? Well, the majority of sedans that its up against offer very little bang at all, so it kind of stands alone in its field. Even sport coupes, such a Fords Mustang GT pale in comparison, and when it comes to handling corners even the blue-oval brands supercar-defying Shelby Cobra GT500 will most likely be left eating the SRT8s proverbial dust. What makes it so good?

Best part, I"m saving this clip for when folks ask which one to get. If this description doesnt make you want one, then most likely, your not the target audience. And while you may make a car that gets better numbers on a dragstrip, your chances of making one that gets a review like this are not good. Not that costs the same.

The capability of this car, especially when factoring in its girth, heft and limousine-like passenger room, is hard to fathom. The way it tackles corners, with absolutely predictable balance, oversteering just enough to make it exciting before understeering exactly when needed, tires rarely making a peep in complaint despite forcing them beyond what should physically be possible, is difficult to put into words.

And the power! The relentless force its 6.1-liter HEMI exacts from its rear tires is stupefying. We laughed, giggled like schoolgirls, chortled deviously as we shot past an Escort wagon, out through the blackened tunnel like if shot from a cannon, into blinding sunlight, and then downward once again, the mountain curves beckoning us forward like a wicked siren to our certain demise.

This is an incredible car, one of the best all-around bar none and sold at an unbeatable price. Chrysler is on a roll.

I agree alot about some of the things mentioned, and the srt-8 sure does look aggresive from the front end. But I highly disagree about the comment that the charger srt-8 will be faster than the new Shelby GT-500 Cobra Mustang. That car is said by production time, to be between 475 to 500 HP(and that's before a huge aftermarket) and being a 2dr. and weighing alot less,to me for the price, power, retro muscular looks,I think that the charger srt-8(as nice as it is), will be eating alot of FoMoCo dust in a spectacular Shelby car!! :happy:I'm afraid the only thing the srt-8 will have over The new Shelby will be 2 more doors! :)

Note he said "when it comes to handling corners". I'm not sure I agree, but until the production Shelbys roll off the line, we cant know for sure.

Yea he also states "most likely"...I don't know?! Well, then I'll venture out and say it this way,IMO, in the corners, straight line(goes without saying),everything except hulling 2 extra people in a back seat, and some interior options here and there, the New Shelby GT-500 Cobra Mustang(even though not offically out yet) will beat any of the srt-8's period.I love the srt-8's,I own one,but this will definitely not outperform the Shelby coming out. This is going to be one hot ride for the price!(before greedy dealers get a hold of it of course). And with the huge aftermarket on this car,in no time I see 600-700 hp no problem. Other than that,it was a very good article and the pic looks tough.... from the front end

Yeah GLH, that was my favorite part too! What a paragraph. It was getting a little annoying all the analogies and prose, but he brought it home in the end!
