I have the R/T stock rims on my 06 Se and I was wondering what the widest possible tires would fit without rubbing. If anyone has pictures this would be nice to look at. I am talking about just the rear also. Thanks for any info. Also, does anyone run white letters on their car tires and how does that look also.

I'd like to know this too.

265 I believe is the MAX for the R/T's for factory rims. Although any tire shop will tell you 255 is the max. Some members here have already done it above 255 with no problems.

According to the calculator at: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
There are quite a few 265/60R18 tires that will fit on the stock 18"x 7.5" rims.

These tires are quite a bit bigger (taller and wider) than stock. I don't know if they will rub.
Your speedo will also be off with them, when you are doing 60, the speedo will read 56 unless you adjust it to the tires.

If you get them, and you like them, let us know! Let us know if they rub.

I have 255's, but I have a friend of mine who runs the 265 without any rub whatsoever and they are 22's so... Hope that helps you out.

Do you know the exact size of your friend's tires.. with that, the calculator can tell us the diameter (we already know the width).. if the diameter of your friend's is the same size or bigger than the 265/60R18, then the 265/60R18 would probably be a good bet for the widest tire on the stock 18" wheels.

The question on the table is "what is the widest tire that will fit on the stock RT wheel (18"x7.5) and will not rubbing".
From TireRack.com, the 265/55r18 tires are the widest tire in a 55 series that is recommended for a 7.5" wide wheel. I Know that 255/55r18's do not rub on a stock suspension cars. The 265 will be 1/2" taller and a little over 1/4" wider than the 255/55 tires. I would bet there will be rubbing.
Incidentally, there was only one 265/55's listed on tirerack. There are choices in the 255/55r18 size. That would be my recommendation.

One note: the Dunlop 265/55r18 listed 7.5 as the min wheel width. Other manufacturers may not recommend this wide a tire in this low an aspect ratio on a wheel this narrow.

I'm running 255/45 ZR18's on my stock R/T rims. These are GoodYear F1 SuperCar's and they had no problems installing them and they do not rub.

Interesting.. The SRT8 comes with 245s. I have to think that if they could have improved the handleing by going to 255s, the SRT engineers would have; unless they were not happy with the cost or availablity of the 20" 255s..

I have been thinking that I would upgrade to 255/55R18 when the time comes. but maybe I'll go to the 245/55R18 route instead.

I didn't say they would not fit, it is just not recommended by Goodyear on any wheel less than 8" wide .
You will have to run lower air pressure to keep the tread wear even, which will reduce the handling. I'm not saying it's going to be a big wear or handling problem but it could be.

Thanks for all the information. This will help me to check out some of the tire prices and different brands.
