Having a problem with the new Mopar iPod integration kit and my 80gb iPod video. When hooked up all I get is a "connecting to ipod" message.
I tried my daughters' 2gb nano & wifes' 60 =gb ipod photo which both worked great. So I decided to set mine back to factory settings and try again. I reloaded some of my music (about 8,000 of the 15,600+ I have) hooked it back up and it worked great. So I decided to load the rest connected it and get the "connecting to ipod" message again. I left it hooked up for awhile to see if it was just taking along time due to the amount of music but, it never connected. My wifes' ipod has 14,500+ songs and connects right away.
Is this a problem with the newer ipods?
Is there a number to report issues to mopar?
I really like the unit and would like to keep it.
Don't want to have to trade iPods with my wife (she has my old one).

I have not had that problem but I have had the problem of music only coming out the left side speakers. So I called my dealership and they are working on "authorizing" a new kit for me to correct that problem. If it continues to not work you may want to try that route.

I'm also using an 80gb iPod Video. I'm not having this problem, but I only have around 3,000 songs.

Fantastic... Mine is due to arrive some time this week. I guess I'll be part of the learning curve too. Just super. :smoke:

I've heard that a possible solution is to update the firmware on Apple's website. Should be version 7. something. Has anyone tried this?
I'm having the same problem. Has anyone found a solution?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

i had similar problem, but i had older ipod
i tired my bros ipod mini and ipod video and they worked fine
turned out i had to upgrade my actual ipod...not just Itunes, but there should be a button or setting that allows you to update your actual ipod
since it's just your ipod that dosen't work i'd suspect it's something like that
also you can hard reset your ipod (think it's hold down middle button and play button for 20 seconds or something like that)

Where have I been and how did I miss this?!?!?
I was hanging on for USASpec to turn out a kit with full integration and, all the while, eschewing iPod in favor of WMA players. But I just recently decided to try iTunes 7 and that converted me. My new nano should be here tomorrow via FedEx overnight. And I was still resigned to having to use a 3.5mm mini-stereo to RCA cable with the VES to get the music out of the little guy. (Which I already bought but, oh well, I can use it in the house, I'm sure.)
But a sanctioned, Mopar/Apple kit that works with our NAVs AND gives full control though the stereo/steering wheel controls AND charges??? OMG! Time for an unscheduled trip to the dealer. Thank god this Friday's a payday. You guys just made my day with this thread. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
Er, wait. It does work with the REC systems in the 2006 R/Ts, right? I'm pretty sure that's the model of the NAV system in the 2006. Oh man, it better.

And now that it's been 5 minutes, I want more than perfect.
Does anyone know if the Mopar iPod kit will continue to work if I refit my REC with the CAN-B version of the MyGig, if it does become available?
I've already updated my ipod and itunes, still doesn't work correctly. I've tried reseting it as well.
My g/f's 30gb works fine, and mine works every once in a while if I have less than 25gb filled on mine. If I fill it up to 27gb it doesn't work at all.

I installed the ipod Integration kit myself about 5 months ago. It works fine with my 60Gig Video Ipod.
Although RICOVER I can control the Ipod though my stereo (I have Nav with the 6 disc changer) but it is SLOW as hell!!
First you scroll through all the songs listed from A to about N then you get to a channel where you can "jump to M" or "jump to T" ect. After that there are channels where you choose "Browse by Artist" or "by Album" or "Playlist", "genres" ect.
So once you select one of these channels you wait for about 4 seconds for it to bring up channels organized by what you selected. Then you have to scroll through the selected organization in alphabetical order untill you find what you want. Then you get to the channels where you get to "jump to F", "jump to G" ect if you choose these channels you have to wait 4 seconds again to bring up that section and finally you scroll to the channel of the artist or album you were trying to reach all the while you have made it back from the grocery store and your pulling into your dirveway.
So in short the navigation through the ipod integration kit SUCKS!! and it's slow. At least that's my experience.

I may not be a car mechanic/expert but i know stereos and electronics inside and out.
Your problem is only 1 channel is getting to your car stereo.
1. From the Ipod to your car. This is tested with a pair of headphones since they use both channel. Do both your earphones work. Yes probably.
2. The car is not recievng both channels. This is because it is improperly hooked up at dealership or input jack is a MONO channel. If both channels work when you have radio on in stereo mode it is not the CDplayer.
3. You are using a mono channel cable. Try using a stereo 3.5 to 3.5 cable, make sure both 3.5 end have 2 black stripes on the end of them and try connecting useing the headphone jack in IPOD. One stripe is Mono channel.

I have the 30 GB video Ipod and it works fine. Tried connecting my roommates 80GB video Ipod and it wouldnt connect. I thought maybe it was due all the files he had on there but we let it sit for a while and still nothing. I know most if not all of his music is in AAC format where as mine is MP3 format - maybe that has something to do with it??
Regardless we couldnt get it working and just stuck with mine.
I will say however that while its nice having the connection, navigating through the stereo system sucks. The interface is terrible - i don't think they could have made a worse interface for it if they tried. I make a lot of playlists now and stick to those but that's not always ideal.
My suggestion would be to buck up and get the myGig system or switch to a pioneer, alpine, or clarion deck.

I sort of found a work around for the 80gb problem. You can not hot swap an 80 GB ipod after a 60gb or lesser ipod has been hooked. Also you can not just unplug the 80GB ipod even though the screen says you can!
What works for me is I do not shut the car off with the stereo in ipod mode. I change modes to FM or CD. I then power off the stereo and then power off the car. If I leave the stereo in ipod mode and shut the car off and come back and hook up my ipod it will not recognize it.
As for the slowness, indeed it is unbearable at times. Also the fct it won't display the track on the evic is also cheesy.
The final thing I noticed is when you unplug your ipod (80GB) it will stay in a weird standby mode that will drain your battery in your ipod, it will not go to sleep on it's own. After unpluggin it you need to jsut go to another menu and it will go to sleep as it should.
I also own a 60GB and I have none of these issues at all...so I think it's a handshake problem with the 80gb models and the $200 ipod integration paperweight (!).
