I don't personally like touch screens due to the fact that they get damaged/dirty WAY easier than the type of system we have right now. Though it makes the lazy people a bit happier, it creates a hassle...Only real upgrade I see there is the DVD...which shouldn't be in the front seat anyway...I know if I had a DVD playing I'd probably crash from watching it...but thats just my opinion..I'm happy with my 6 disc MP3 system.

Everything I've read and heard says that the MyGig won't work with 2006-2007 LX vehicles. It requires interfacing to a newer version of the CANBUS. I've heard that it might be offered on the 2008 LX/LY cars but that hasn't been confirmed.

Yeah, CAN-B is on the LX cars ... along with Aspen/Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee/Commander, Dodge Ram, and the Caliber/Compass/Patriot. The new Wrangler, Sebring/Avenger, and Nitro seem to have a variant of this... but I guess it remains to be seen if the differences are significant enough that only future model years will be compatible at all with the Mygig.
On the plus side is that the CHYAH05 CAN setup on current LX cars was designed to interface with aftermarket head units and offers output for Vehicle speed sense for aftermarket navigation setups. Maybe some clever bloke will figure out how to put a future gizmo similar to Mygig into an LX? Who knows.
J-1850 BUS is on the current Liberty and Minivans... they won't get Mygig retrofits for sure.
I've been able to use Mygig numerous times on the road... and I can attest that this thing represents 10x more value than the nav-system that it is replacing for Chryslers.
The screen resists smudges very well (you know, after you pick your nose and touch the screen, you don't leave boogers stains). Also, the screen is much better than what I've seen in domestic cars... it's really on par with what you get with more marquee nameplates - but won't compete in the realm of $7,000 add-on options in the back seats of Mercedes.
You can quickly rip CDs to the hard drive, and the navigation of songs is pretty quick and easy. Navigation is also super-fast as there is not lag time to seek on the DVD. And the new system now supports a 3D map view instead of the traditional top-down 2D.
After using mygig, the 6-disc in my Daytona is like going from a HDTV back to regular TV. It's very noticable, even though the end result (listening to music or watching TV) is supposed to be the same.

It looks like an incredibly well-designed system - if I could get one for the Charger, I'd sell my blood.

Wife refuses to look anything without it:) Now we negotiate between the Nitro R/T and the Wrangler, Rubicon if I get my way:) But it'll be hers, so its what she wants.

The '08 magnum that Dodge showed at the Detroit Auto Show had MyGig.
Unfortunately, the links at the bottom of this page, that show the hi-res pictures, don't work any more unless you are a registered working jounalist (but before they "upgraded" their site last week.. I could see that MyGig was there).

Does that mean the '08 charger gets it too? I don't know, but I hope so.
