The new year has begun, and so has planning for the 2007 SRT/ Modern Mopar Nationals!

2006 was a great event, but 2007 is shaping up to be even better. The core team has increased in number to 6 people, all dedicated to making the event one of the best in the nation for 2007.

Please visit us at SRTnationals.org or ModernMoparNationals.org and take a look around.

We're working on an improved schedule that moves the drag racing to the evenings and the parties into the night. The stages will still have a band (Silver Judas Rocks!), but in the heat of the day, we'll make things hotter with a Bikini Contest.

The Car Show is expanded to not only make it easier to use, will also feature a "Pro" section for those competitors who want to be judged with the best of the best.

It's not just for Neons anymore! 2006 saw the participation of all sorts of Modern Mopars, including the Classic Muscle, rare trucks, Viper, Shelby Dodge, and the LX platform. We're continuing that trend by catering to the clubs who want to hold their own events inside this one, or just park together.

Be sure to check out the Message Board link on the event website, a dedicated set of forums has been created for the event. From there, we can quickly distribute information about the event without worrying about missing one of the club websites.

Register for the event, and we'll also be able to stay in contact through email as updates occur.

Pregistration is not required this year, but it is encouraged. Participants who want to attend the banquet must preregister because the food order goes in about three weeks before the event. Those who choose to register at the event will pay more money at the gate, and not receive all of the benefits of pre-registering. There are several reasons for this, most involve the pre-ordering of vinyl, awards, and other materials.

Want to attend the event at a discounted cost, or free? Volunteer to help out for a couple hours and you'll be eligble to receive money from the Volunteer Fund set up to help offset the costs of the event for participants. More information about this program can be found on the website.

Want to be more than a Volunteer? The event is run by enthusiasts, and there's always room for more enthusiasts. Just let us know you're available and we'll be more than happy to have you join the team.

Never heard of the event? If it's not on the website now, they will be soon, the magazine articles from Mopar Magazine, Grassroots Motorsports, and the SRT Edge.

Sign up now, See you in Topeka this July!

Here is the official website for the 2007 SRT/Modern Mopar Nationals to be held in Topeka, KS. http://www.srtnationals.org/2007Nats/index.php?p=index This event is July 18-21. It's open to ALL MOPARS!

Unfortunately, there haven't been a lot of people register yet (you know how everybody waits until the last minute, just like they did last year) and the event is in danger of being cancelled. With major sponsorship like this one has (in particular Kicker Audio), the sponsors want to see participation from the get go as a guarantee of a return on their investment.

There will be everything from a car show, drag racing, autocross to road course racing on the great facilities there at Heartland Park. So there is something for everyone.

So go take a look, and if you are up for a great time, sign up! The promotors will re-evaluate everything on April 1st to decide either to move forward or cancel it.

Indeed... I have gone to 05's SRT Nationals in New Orleans, and last year I attended the 06 SRT Nationals in Topeka kansas. Each time our local car club CSC brought 10+ cars to the event. Last years event was the most fun i had at any car event i have ever gone too... I am signed up and can't wait until this event comes around again!

Hope to see people sign up and come out for a great time!

Exactly. I went with our local St. Louis SRT Club. We had a blast, and several of us are going again this year.

Who in there rite mind wants to spend their vacation in TOPEKA!?!

I think there'd be so many more people willing to go if it was held in Las Vegas or Phoenix instead. At least then you can justify the trip.

Topeka is about as centrally located as you can get for a National show like this. The track there has amazing updated facilities for all the events, and it's really all about the Mopars and hanging out with fellow Mopar fans. It isn't about being in Topeka, it's the event you are going for, not the city.

No matter where an event is held, you will always find people that will complain about it. If this event was held in Maine, you'd say the same thing. But unless its held in your backyard its too far.

Also find a track that has 1/4 mile drag strip, Autocross, and a nice road course, all on the same property. There are not too many places that have these items that make up the event.

You're right. The event moved to Memphis, Tennessee, July 28 and 29 of 2007.

Granted, it's not at your house, but it looks like the organizers took your beef seriously.

See you in Memphis, I know I'll be there...
