I've been pouring over these threads for a few weeks now (not wanting to ask seemingly stupid questions that had already been answered), but I still don't have a good understanding of what needs to be done in the following setups:

1. After-market Deck such as the AVIC-Z1(2) while retaining the factory Amp and Speakers.

2. After-market Deck such as the AVIC-Z1(2) with after-market Amp and Speakers.

I understand that 3 devices from PAC will allow either of these two setups:
a. SWI-CAN + SWI-PS will allow me to use the steering wheel controls with the AVIC-Z1
b. C2R-CHY is my point of confusion:
1. Will this allow the the use of the factory speakers and amp?
2. If I do decide to replace the factory stuff, is this still required?

Thanks for the help.

P.S. On the Pioneer website related to the AVIC-Z1 they show it installed in a Magnum with a bezel that fits perfectly... does anyone know where such a bezel can be found?

The stock bezel works perfectly for the Z1. If you have the non-navi bezel, you can pick the navi bezel up MakeItMopar where I got mine or at Leeparts where they have it in black, silver or carbon fiber. You'll need all 3 pieces (SWI-CAN, SWI-PS & C2R-CHY) if you want your steering wheel controls to work like factory with the Z1 & the stock speakers. Also, get the install kit from Installer.com.

The shop that installed mine said the kit I supplied them with was the cleaniest they've seen & that most of these kits need shaping to make the unit look stock & flush. Hope that helps.

Just FYI - The C2R-CHY harness works with the CAN bus system in the car. The factory amp is a two cannel setup... and stock fading is controlled by data sending from the stock head unit. The C2R-CHY harness tells the factory amp to turn on, and sets the fader to center. You loose the ability to fade between front and rear speakers with an aftermaker head unit by using this setup. ALSO... the C2R-CHY harness has a very simple interface built into the wiring that allows SWI-CAN, etc... to plug rught into C2R-CHY without having to splice additional wiring for power, etc...

I did a double duin kenwood system in my SRT8, with steering wheel controls... and everything works great.... used all three required harnesses.
