strange little noise at full throttle!!!!!!!

What up everybody, I have a question that I hope someone has a good answer to it. Well, the thing is that i just got my 06 midnight blue charger. OF COURSE, IT HAS THE HEMI IN IT!!! Well, getting back to the problem. I have had my mean machine for about two months and after about the first 800 miles on it, I started to ragg on her a little more. Ok, i cant lie, it was about 8 miles on it. (couldn't help myself). Anyways, everytime I'm at full throttle i get this little whistling sound, that can only be heard at full throttle. For a moment, it sounds likr if the car is pinging but i know that is impossible being that the computer has the knock sensor and i put the middle grade gas just like the dealer said. middle grade gas sounds weak but I even tried premium gas but she got stupid and i never put premium in her again. I just cant figure this noise out and to take it to the dealer is like taking it to walmart for an engine overhaul. (Sorry i just have had bad experiences with dealers). Well that my dilema, is there anyone out there that has the same problem or at least tell me that what to do

Could be a loose hose on the intake tube somewhere....kind of sounds like that could be the issue.

Where is it, in the RPM range?

Is it just as you hit the gas?
I have a whistle right as the throttle opens.
Then at higher rpms I get a sound that’s like a mix between a whistle and a chirp (almost like a cricket). I have no idea where this sound comes from.
It's done it since around 1000 miles on the odometer.

By the way you don't need the middle grade, according to DCX. That being said I have been running the middle grade but plan to go back to regular after I change the T'stat.

every now and then at WOT I hear a sound like a plastic bag is being held out the window... this was also on 87 octane... filled up with 91 at sams club last night (cheaper then 89 octane elsewhere) and will see this weekend if I still hear it or not...

Does it sound like a ping? Kind of like a plastic zip tie being closed? Mine has been doing that since day one (2000 miles now). I have used 89 and 93 octane with no change. It only happens in the higher rpm range and isn't affected my temperature of the engine or outside temp. I have been to the dealership twice for it now, and the service manager swears he can't hear it. The tech I took out for a ride, heard it before I could tell him when it would start. Hmmmmmm...perhaps the service manager is trying to hide something. I had driven 2 r/t chargers before purchasing mine. Also drove one after. The other 3 did not make the noise. I am hoping it is an exhaust leak or something like that, but my gut feeling is that there is something not quite up to par in the valvetrain. Maybe a bad lifter or valve spring. The service manager has assured me that he will contact a DCX rep to come look at it.....and assure me that it isn't a problem. We will see about that :mad:

If you have the whistle sound when you hit the gas or at a higher rpm it may be a vacuum line off. I had this happen to my 2002 300M.

You had a 2002 300M too? Mine was the Pro-Am one. Loved that car, but love the Charger more!

When I went WOT, I didn't get a whistle... but a microsecond of what sounded like a deep breath and then a gut-busting roar that was indescribable.
