Hey guys i love this forum!!! I just bought a 06 charger with the hemi of course. Well when i am at a stop light for a long time the esp light will come on. I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal that a way to stop it was to put it in park. Ok there has to be a way around this what have you guys run into?

That must be a long light!! If you hold the brakes down for a while the ESP light will come on. Nothing wrong with your car. If you know you'll be applying the brake for awhile, just put it in park.

It does not sound normal, or you need to move to a place with shorter lights.

I 4th that, that is not normal. It sounds like there may be a grounding problem or something.

This is normal for lonhg periods like 3-5 minutes. I had it happen once. It is explained in you owners manual. Put it in park for extended periods so this will not happen again. How long where you stopped? If it happens after only a few minutes, then get it checked.

Does it happen if you put the parking brake on?

Never had that happen to me, but then again I usually drive with ESP off (and get the icon on EVIC) anyways!

Completely normal.
Mine did this a couple of times while stopped for a train.
Seemed to stop doing it, maybe there is a calibration period.

That is not normal.. for lights to be that long. Be sure to call your local Dept of Transportation and have them look at that light.

You're right -- I tried this last night. After about 9 and a half minutes it turned on.
It is interesting that the time it takes, between one car and another, is not consistant.

This happens to me all the time when I'm waiting for my wife to do something. I'll just sit there in drive with my foot on the brake and a couple minutes later...DING!

Then again the same thing happens when I hit the little switch under my dash :ninja: :D

Movement from wind, passing cars/trucks, trains, passengers in the car.. etc. are the typical causes.
I do not think the computer likes any side to side movement when the wheels are stationary.
