Has anyone upgraded their nav systems to one that accepts OTA traffic signals? I would be interested to hear your comments.
BMW is adding this feature to to all their cars(for free, no subscription), is DC going to upgrade their Nav Systems also?

Chrysler has a new system, Dodge put it in the Nitro, but it will not work in our chargers. I hope it will be there in '08 -- but I don't know.

click on "Infotainment" then "MyGig"

I wanted to get an aftermarket one myself, but they use XM Traffic, which requires an XM subscription. Since I already have Sirius, and I like it a lot, I don't want to switch satellite radio companies...

Yeah - I have the Kenwood Nav unit and it's setup for XM, which was a bummer... not to hot on XM -- long time Sirius subscriber... Although I didn't buy the Kenwood for the traffic features... too bad it's not setup for Sirius...

Dodge has just previewed the '08 Magnum.. It has the MyGig.. look pretty nice.
It is, IMHO, a pretty good indication that the '08 charger will also have it.

Well, I'll assume that if they put MyGig in the current gen LX, we can probably retrofit it to our cars, along with the whole electronics suite. I wonder if that would be prohibitively expensive...

yea I have a feeling it will be really expensive..but I might have to start saving my pennies for it. It looks like its going to be really sweet. But as of now I still love my NAV System

I bought my wife the Garmin c550 for xmas. She loves it and it came with 3 months or something like that of free traffic. She went out of town the day after xmas and she was stunned at how effective the traffic feature was. She decided to follow all of the units recommendations and she believes it saved he a ton of time. This was travelling from VA back to Long Island a couple days after xmas. She isnt a huge gadget person but she cant say enough about the traffic portion of her new GPS and plans on keeping up the subscription. I havent really looked into it, but it would be nice to be able to activate the traffic feature just before a long trip, not sure how it works or how much of a contract you have to keep.

Sirius offers this feature for an additional fee.

Both my mom and I have upgraded our H/U in our cars. I went with the kenwood in my avalanche, my mom got an alpine. Both have traffic features, but they require an XM subscription. My guess is that most aftermarket companies will offer a traffic thing, but it's going to require XM.
