Our R/T is my wife's ride. She wants a better sounding exhaust than stock. Her taste, however, differs fom mine in that her tolerance for a raised decibel level is not as high. Suggestions appreciated.

All this is very subjective, but Flowmasters on our F150 were way too loud for her. Super Turbos would have been OK withoutb the drone. If I were try to describe her taste, I'd call it a soft rumble.

super 40 Flowmasters with the reso's in place should make her very happy. Just a slightly more authoritative sound from the exhaust, proving you have some horsepower under the hood. Will not bark like they did on your pick 'em up truck. I would not be happy if they were loud and cheap sounding.........no flames intended!

Corsa, by far, will do the job. They are quite at idle and running, but at WOT you know it. Oh, ya no drone.

Go with a complete JBA system (headers, midpipes with high flow cats and the after cat system). If that doesn't work send pictures of wife.

I didn't want any interior drone but wanted a little more sound over stock. I installed Flowmaster Super 40s and left the stock resos on. Nice rumble at idle and low speeds. Great at WOT and no drone. Ordered from local speed shop cost me $80 per muffler and had installed at local Meineke shop. $240 Total.
PS: If you go with Flow masters the correct part number is 952548 which is Off Set IN / Off Set Out (Flow master makes a full cat back system for the RT which uses a Center / Off Set combo that will not fit the stock RT set up without bending new pipe which is what they sold me originally and had to return)

Borla 112 kit or find a complete kit like I did off a Daytona. My wife also drives are charger and I had the Magnaflow kit on and it came off quick! It sounded good but the MDS drone was crazy! Now with the Daytona exhaust and the Mopar LT's its perfect and she loves it! Best of all NO DRONE!

brylcreem. its only loud when you want it to be. how loud does she want?
this would be the best bang for the buck!

I would say the drone inside at 70ish would most likly drive her crazy from the way SanDiegoCharger describes his wifes tastes.

I think the JBA complete system would be to loud from the way SanDiegoCharger describes his wifes tastes.

yes that would be a wife stamp of approval from the way SanDiegoCharger describes his wifes tastes. But very costly.

From the way SanDiegoCharger describes his wifes tastes, the Daytona set up would be to quiet.

This would be a very nice mellow but agressive sounding set-up.
Here's is, from the way you describe what you wife is looking for in sound, what I would try, first try the brylcreem set-up, all that is - is dropping the suit-case style stock muffler and replacing it with pipes. If she don't like it than go with the flowmaster super 40's and leave the stock reso's on. The way Fprez did.

I just gave them to my G/F and we will be installing them this weekend. I hope she likes them.
PS: They may sound a little mild when first installed. After about 400 miles or so of break in time they will reach full potential and give you a great sound.
Hope she likes it.

I have flowMasters on my Stang also. Can someone tell me how this break in works? It's just metal in these muff's what breaks in. I saw the samething on my stang. I was pissed when I put them on and after about a week of driving the sound got so much better.

Everything has a break in period. At first there was a very distinctive “New Muffler” metal sound, like the muffler was resonating the sound back and forth on the brand new metal surfaces. Now with many miles on the new metal it has been heated and cooled many times and is coated with a carbon build up , which brings out the true flowmaster sound.

Thanks Fprez for all of your help with this.
I thing the G/F will be going to stage 2 and removing the restos at the bumper.

DougMM, just keep in mind, most likely you will pick up pretty bad drone by removing the resonators. Almost everybody that has done that has talked about how bad the drone is like that. If the car is only driven once in awhile it's one thing, but if it's a daily driver (or used for long trips now and then) the drone might get old quick.

Got that right Big Country!
Another RT Owner I happen to meet had the Super 40s without the stock resos and the drone was unbearable. Unfortunately he didn't keep the stock resos so he put Flowmaster resos on and they cut the drone down 90%.

I got the Corsa's. LOUD at WOT and not too bad just puttin around. Certainly louder that stock, all the time. Highway speeds though, it quiets down, but there is still some cabin drone when going up hills etc etc.

That's a couple different posts I've seen now that say the Flowmaster resos do a pretty good job of controlling the drone. I may have to look into the Flowmaster catback at some point. Right now I just have the brylcream mod, and regardless of what most lead you to believe on here, you do indeed get drone with that mod as well. Granted, it's not bad though.

Thanks for the honesty. I think I'm changing my choice of the Borla 125 to the Corsa after all of this "drone" talk. I didn't have a drone on my other car with Borla, but my other car didn't have MDS either.
