One of our contacts at DCX has given us some information about the upcoming Dodge Charger Daytona Sublime Edition, along with a couple of pictures.
Here's what we know about the Sublime Edition:
Introducing the latest High Impact Color - Sublime.
Targeted for December production - the Charger Daytona R/T is re-introduced for the 2007 Model Year.
The Sublime Daytona R/T builds on the tradition set by its' three predecessors and is the 4th edition in the Daytona series.
A limited number of 1,500 units will be built for the US market.
[Enhancements to the Sublime Daytona include the addition of 20” chrome clad wheels and 245/45R20 all season performance tires.

So for 2007 it is even closer to being a Road & Track with only the paint color, decals, and number plate being the difference:( . How boring is that DCX?!

1500 units...not fair to us mango or top banana owners who have 1 of 4000.maybe cause sublime will NOT be the fastest color and therefore be harder to sell?

I see DCX does not have very much confidence in the color though . . . only 1500 built in the US??? This could end up being the most collectable Daytona to date. More limited than any other Daytona. As long as they don't be stupid and make it available as a regular production color like the TorRed (yes, still bitter about that ) Curious to see what the color looks like in person....

I wish that DCX would just stop with the "limited edition" crap and just offer those colors as regular prodiction items, like they did in the 70s. Back then, it was possible to order those colors on everything from a 6 cylinder base model all the way up to a fully loaded Hemi model. It's obvious that the limited-edition thing lost its appeal with the Daytona Ram version and the Tor-Red being distributed across all of the trim levels, so I think its time to offer the Daytona as strictly an appearance package rather than a numbered limited edition model. Besides, this also gives the buyer A LOT more color choices.

It may not be the color for me, but one thing is for certain, you won't fall asleep driving in it.
It's not boring like 95% of all commercial cars today.

Just to clarify these comments:
I love the Sublime color but the car is NOT special enough for me to trade my current Charger for it.
The reason the above bothers me is that all along the Daytona should have been a SPECIAL model. Unique(RARE) colors not to be used again, and the options should have been special as well. Something like adding the better heads, long tubes, cam, upgraded PCM, TCM, better gearing, and torque converter.
IMHO - That would be worthy of the Daytona nameplate and numbering. Not just a colored and decaled Road & Track package Charger.

Yeah, I saw one on the back of an autohauler yesterday, on the 401 as I was going to work. It was dark out, and raining, so I didn't get a good look, I'm sorry to say, it's too weird a shade of Green for me. It didn't have any Daytona decals yet, as I think they are put on at a place in Windsor, about a mile from our Daimler Chrysler Minivan plant. I should try to get some pics for the forum, since they park most of the new cars in a vacated lot on old Chrysler property in Windsor, before they ship them to various destinations. You should have seen the pile of Superbees they had there a couple of months ago!

Hey Please get some pictures of the sublime, that has been the color i have been holding out for since the charger was introduced.
I also agree with the idea that all colors should have been available right off the bat, could you imagine how all these neat colors would "perk" up the otherwise boring highways?
Also I agree that the Daytona should have something more to offer than what it has now. Different chip, gearing etc.

i guess im in the few here that thinks this shade of green is as hideous as the 50-60's green.it should have been 2 shades darker, this looks like there playing in to the ricer group.IMO

Hey did you all realize that the only time people have seen the sublime daytonas are when they are on the haulers. There are more driving around i'm sure, you just can't see them, they are so fast, thus finally putting the correct ending on the argument of "what color is fastest". Perhaps a ultra high speed camera lens?

Great colors. Love the purple, lover the green, BUT I really wish that Chrysler would put the 6.1 hemi in the Daytona's. For the money they cost they are just too slow when compared with a lot of the lessor expensive other brand X cars. I bought a GoManGo Daytona when they were first introduced and I get my butt handed to me constantly by everything from Mustang GTs (NOT Shelbys but the regular GTs), A few of the 4-bangers like the WRX's, the GTO, etc etc. Heck, a Honda S2000 beat me last month! It's to the point that I don't even run my car anymore. It's not fun. I would HONESTLY get out of my charger and into an SRT if I could, but my car is worth about 5k less than what I owe on it. It didn't exactly hold their value that well. Does anyone else feel like me? I know this is not the popular opinion but it's my honest one. I paid 38k for a car that has these HUGE HEMI graphics on it and then it doesn't move. I feel like it's kind of looked at like it's a joke in the performance world. I run mid-high 14's in the 1/4. Am I all alone in my thinking or are there others that are disappointed with the performance as well?
I'm not looking to get slammed, just want to see if anyone else truly is unhappy with the performance too.

Hey Kelly,
I would think about having your car checked out, or at least have the computer reset, cause I've run 13.88 in my Daytona (Top Banana) and it's bone stock. I think the performance of the Daytona is pretty good considering it's a 4000lb car. It sounds like there might be some issues with your computer, seeing as it learns your driving habits. Might want to search for the threads about how to reset HAL and see if that makes any difference for you.
As far as losing goes to cars like Mustang GT's, S2000's. I've raced my fair share of both and I usually beat the GT's quite easily. The S2000 is a little closer depending on the driver.
Hope you are able to figure it out!

Hi Scott,
Thanks VERY much for the advice. I WILL have it checked out. I babied it went I first got it so maybe I've somehow trained it to be this slow??
I really didn't know that the Daytona's could run 13.88's. I thought that you had to have an SRT-8 to get into the 13's in stock form. It's bad enough being a female and getting all of the "woman driver" comments at the track, without the added pressure of the car not running so great. It has run 14.55 but that was its best time. I grew up drag racing my older brother's A12 1969.5 Super Bee which ran consistent 12.90's with nothing more than a better set of tires to differentiate it from stock, so I guess that I was expecting more from the Daytona. And it was a lot of money for me to spend too so I can't see investing in a lot of pricey upgrades to make it go faster.
Thanks again,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
I hope everything goes well, cause you should be able to get down to at least close to 14 flat, with high 13's not too far behind. I babied mine for the first 2000km's, and it was starting to get sluggish in spots, so I spent the next 1000km's having some real run with the car. The result is truly night and day as the car sounds more aggressive, and also launches very well from a dead stop. I've only had the opportunity for 4 runs in this car and two were low 14's and 2 were high 13's, so it can be done! The only mod I have (if you can call it that) is a K&N Drop in filter.
The stock time for the SRT-8 is around 13.3 - 13.4 if I'm not mistaken, while I think the Daytona's stock time is actually in the high 13's. (13.9)
Keep us updated, and if there is any other info you may need, send me a PM and I'm sure we can figure it out!
Good Luck and enjoy that beautiful car!

Thank you superdart. Finally some pictures that I can judge (within reason) the color as to how it will be in real life. Up until seeing these I was feeling a little disappointed about this color and how it was being represented in other pictures and drawings. However, now that I have seen these pictures (with graphics included) I can say I like this far better than Tor-red and even Top Banana. I still like my Go Mango the best (metallic) than the solid colors, but the Sublime is #2 so far. I am hoping that Plum Crazy is a metallic color instead of a solid.

Do you still have to use the wheel controls to get into the EVIC.thats interesting,no EVIC or diff controls for it.just looked thru the 07 charger catalog from the dealer and nothing has the wheel controls except the srt8.it shows a plum purple interior and no steering wheel controls.someone find out whats up.

Again, its part of the electronics conveinence package. Its like a 600.00 option. Go to the build and price for the Charger. You will find that there. Not all Chargers come standard with it, but most are optioned with it. This is true for the 2006 and 2007 model year. The SRT8 comes standard with it. The R/T's and Daytonas have it as an option. Its not avaliable on the SE's or SXT's.

I read all the posts on here and it is fun to read the excitement you future buyers have. I owned a 1970 Road Runner that was just about the same color and loved it. It is awesome.
My favorite color of all time was TorRed and I was just as excited when I got my daytona.
Awesome cars all the way around. Sure the Daytona should have a mechanical advantage over an R/T with road and track, but I won't complain. The limited edition number plate is worth something no matter what they do to screw up offering it as an 07 option :)

Wow guy, yeah i would definitley have my car checked out, and if there is nothing wrong with that, I would look into buying some lead boots, they help, I've never had that problem with the GT,S and especially never the H2000, and that was before my mods! I ran head to head with a modded wrx on the highway at about 130 140 but i was pulling away from him he was doing good job keeping up but he definitely was not winning! I don't know I smoked the hell out my car my first couple hundred miles, they say HAL adjust to your driving style especially in the beginning and usually more so than not i get on it. But hey I would fricken be pissed too! If that was happening to me, the funny thing even is with all my mods minus the nitrous and a bunch of **** in my car sunroof and an extra person i still beat an 06 GTO by about "I say his bumper was lined up with the front of my passenger door" modded with no cats and his passenger and rear seat taken out. Very fun race!

Hi, was at the Racine Auto Show and saw the lime Daytona. I liked it. The contrast of the green, black and chrome is awsome. It was # 68 of 1500. Maybe, maybe.....

Last week I went to pick up my license plates from the dealership. They had a Sublime Daytona on the show room floor. The radio bezel and shifter bezel where in Sublime green as well. Looked very sharp.
For any Houston members looking for a Sublime Daytona.
North West Dodge has one.

1500 units...not fair to us mango or top banana owners who have 1 of 4000.maybe cause sublime will NOT be the fastest color and therefore be harder to sell?

Have had mine 25 hours as of now! I have caused more cases of whiplash then I can count!! You know you got a cool car when someone snaps their own neck turnign to get a good look! Or when a car rides by you going the other way and the drivers chin is below their window sill in awe! Just today, I was driving home from work, had a mini-van in front of me. I could see the dad looking in his side mirror and talking...next thing I know he runs the red light ahead of me and pulls to the side of the road. He gets out of his van and opens his side door as the light turns green. I drive by slowly looking to make sure he's alright and there in the doorway of the van are his 3 boys waving and hollering *WOW* *Cool car Mister* Just too cool! Im glad I got this ride.

i guess im in the few here that thinks this shade of green is as hideous as the 50-60's green.it should have been 2 shades darker, this looks like there playing in to the ricer group.IMO
Actually the color retroed from the 70's...infact just this past Saturday, a Sub Lime 1970 Roadrunner flagged me down going to a local cruise-in, in order to check my Sub Lime Daytona out. He was ...of course...impressed, and as we parked side by side, there was NO difference in the shade at all except the new paint has metal flake in it. I imagine Chrysler took paint codes from the 70's including your Tor Red color and reproduced them for the new ones. Does yours have metal flake in the paint too? Just curious.
Oh by the way....since the 70's preceeded the ricers...I guess the ricers are paying hommage to the mighty Mopars or the past, instead of the Charger today paying hommage to the crappy ricers....why don't they just go away..they annoy me in so many ways! LOL

Now that i've seen more of this color its not as bad as earlier pictures.I like the metallic makes it sparkle more.
The metallic is what makes it look light also,a shade darker would have been closer to the earlier colors.
BTW the torred and the top banana are the only colors with out metallic in the paint:cry:
Congrats on the daytona.Be prepaired for a lot of looks your way.

have looked at the sublime up close. you cant tell it a metallic until you are on top of it. at a distance, it looks like a standard paint. does make you wonder how many of the plum crazy they will sell. oh and the main reason these numbers were less than the others had to do with gas prices taking a leap in the stratosphere last year. hell a couple of dealers didnt sell their red ones finally till last month and are just getting their sublimes. i dont mind having two different colors that had a 4000 counts.:)

Is the Sublime color a little darker than the original? I saw a new Daytona on the freeway the other day and it looked a bit darker than the early-70's color. More towards SassyGrass/GreenGo than Sublime. Was that my imagination or what?

the sublime is a metallic paint so at differant angles and lighting it will appear lighter and darker at differant times.
My first impressions of the color was that it was lighter than the thro back color.
The metallic plays alot to the darkness aspect.
Another possiblity is the most seen thro back colors are a bit faded now so they would appear lighter.

Hi all--I just joined this board to post this. I was in San Diego on vacation last weekend and rented a Charger Sublime from Dollar Rent-a-car at the airport. It was a total accident--I just reserved a full size car. They said we had the "green car in spot #15" and my wife and I thought it was hilarious when we saw it. We were going to ask for a different car, but decided it was too good of an opportunity. It was the perfect California "sick ride" (as the doorman at our hotel called it). Great car!!!!!

We just rented one of these in Vegas, and we actually negotiated the price down a hair! From the moment we drove it away it got tons of looks, stares, finger points, all within minutes! It handled well, and I liked it, and it is quite the Cop Magnet, as we got pulled over driving around Tahoe in it. I would buy one if the window frames were not so high you could actually rest your arm/elbow on them, a killer for me, kind of like how some cars have an tiny window edge sticking up that cuts into your arm - 1984 BMW 325

Funny thing..... I never saw this post before prior to owning my Sublime. Just crusiing around on the Forums now and come across this thread and looking at some of the first real life pics to hit the web while the Sublimes were sitting at the DC plant in Windsor..... really made me wonder if I was staring at my car! Absolutely no way to tell for sure, but it really makes you wonder if maybe these pics were taken of your car before you owned it.

geeze, i wish i knew what my new job will be after I retire so I can get one for me. I love the Purple one. I'd have the Daytona removed from the rear and have a custom Minnesota one made and have the Charger from the trumk removed and have a custom Vikings replace it.

I'm getting similar reactions to my Plum Crazy. My favorite was at the gas station during the first week. A man started walking across the lot, talking into his cell phone: "Let me call you back in a minute, you oughta see the car that's sitting here." He knew the Plum Crazy color from the early '70's, but didn't know they were making Chargers in Plum Crazy. I told him about Sublime, also.
