Being a member now for about a year, I come to this site for help and reading the post's by everyone is great. Even though I might not post much myself I enjoy coming here several times a day to read what's new.
I owned a Mango Daytona for about 8 months and recently traded it in for a Top Bananna. The only dealership close to my house is Dodge Of Paramus and the sales staff there is horrible. I'd drive a GM car before I bought a car from there again.
But here is my warning to all about this dealership.
On my banana, the headlight's are fogging up so much that hardly any light is showing on the road at night except for the fog light's. The ash tray once opened takes forever to get to stay closed, the windshield wipers drag across the windshield and when the left arm is lifted up, it hits the hood. Yes, wipers wear out in time but not in 2,000 miles. The car also has the well known problem with the trunk lid/bumper scuff marks.
So I make an appointment with Dodge Of Paramus to get the car fixed and I drop it off last night to be worked on today.
The service manager, Steve Bradt calls me up at 8:20 am and tells me that since the car wasn't bought at Dodge Of Paramus to take it back to the dealership I bought it from Warnock in East Hanover.
I go down to the dealer and am very ticked off now :fuming:  I talk to him in person and he say's that since the car wasn't sold from their dealership, they aren't even looking at my car. He goes on and on how each dealership is individually owned and they can refuse the right to work on any car.
This may be true but my advise to all in New Jersey, especially northern New Jersey, stay away from this dealership for sales, parts and service. In the past I had no problems bringing my Mango Daytona there for service even though it wasn't bought there but now all of a sudden there is a problem. This won't be the last of this either. I have already called DC and made a complaint about this dealership and I'm just waiting until I get that little survey in the mail from them. Payback is a bi**ch!  No wonder this dealership isn't 5 Star anymore. Plus there will be that call to the local tv news station's.
Stay away from Dodge Of Paramus 315 Route 4 West in Paramus New Jersey.
Well since there aren't any other Dodge dealerships near by, I stopped at a local Chrysler dealership, asked if they could fix the problems with my car and I have an appointment for next week.
Ok, so now what are we all going to do?????????????
STAY AWAY FROM DODGE OF PARAMUS IN NJ AND STEVE BRADT THE SERVICE MANAGER! In my book this guy is a real a**hole!

wow, it seems amazing to me that any dealer would take this type of stance when dealing with a customer. they should give a rats ass where the car was purchased, they get reimbursed for their warranty work from dcx, so they get paid regardless if you bought from them or not. i know i take my car to a different dealer than where i purchased becasue they are closer. i am sorry to hear your plight and wish you luck in getting things resolved...

It's ok, because they just lost themselves a customer. Plus since I work for the state of NJ and I deal with a lot of people everyday the word will go out about this dealership and it's service department.
I don't understand though, why bite the hand that feed's you? Dealerships like this should be kissing people's butt's to get them to come in. Don't worry, I really let this guy have it today. I told him how much better I was treated at the dealership I bought my car from. Free coffee, soda, donut's, comfortable chairs to sit in and not fold away chairs like at Paramus Dodge.
But it's word of mouth that get's people to come into dealership's and nothing good will ever come from my mouth about them.

Seems to me if you had a Mango and traded for a T/B, you're the kind of customer they would want to keep happy 'cos you're probably like me, an impulse buyer. I've had an 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06 so the dealer loves it when I come in for service

Wow, that would really make me mad. Being in the military I hardly ever get to take my cars to the dealer I bought them from. I really think I would go balistic over that.

Hope it all works out.

I belive he said he did NOT buy the cars from that dealer but I am still shocked that any Dodge dealer can refuse to honor warrantee work. Think about how many of us had to fly around the damn county to get SRT 8's last year because of the damn "allocation" concept. I bought mine out of State and would flip out if any local dealer refused to work on the car. That is real bull$hit.

We should have a section just to post our experience (good or bad) with dealers.

Oh yeah, I was pissed. One of the servicemen gave me the key's back to the car and all my paperwork. I took the key's and threw the paperwork on the floor. I know, it might've been a childish and dumb move on my part but I was ticked off. I started getting really loud with the service manager, telling him I work for the state and about this website and how I was going to make it well known about the treatment he gives to customers in his service department. I swear his face turned white when I said that the local newspaper would be getting a call from me and so would the local tv news who run a spot everyday called "7 On your Side". Another news station have something called, "Shame On You." Trust me, this is not over.
When I went to a Chyrsler/Jeep dealership near down the highway from my house, I explained to the service manager there what had happened and when he asked what dealership this was at, when I told him Dodge Of Paramus, he smiled and then laughed. He said that so many people complain about that dealership and that there isn't one day that goes by where someone doesn't come in and complains about them.
Well F 'em, Dodge Of Paramus lost a customer and when they call me about the Challenger in next month and tell me they're accepting deposit's, i'm going to tell them to go f**k themselves because the service manager, Steve Bradt, gave me a hard time when I needed service, I'm taking my $$$$$$$$$ elsewhere even if i have to drive 100 miles out of my way to get a Challenger.

Yeah my reason for not buying it at Dodge Of Paramus to begin with was because back in June of 2005 the sales manager had me come back 3 day's in a row, telling me that he can get me an SRT-8 no problem, that they were a 5 star dealer and so on. The first day I went and told him what I wanted. He tells me to come back the next day and we'll look for a car for me. I come back the next day with my $$$$$$ and we go over the option's and everything and tells me he'll have the car here tomorrow, comeback and I'll drive home with it. But he wanted my deposit and I refused to give him the $$$$$$$$ until I saw the car in the lot. I come back the third day and he tells me he can't get the car, they won't be out until early 2006. What got me ticked was I stayed home from work for three day's thinking I was getting the car and the only thing I drove home in was the 2002 Durango I drove to the dealership in. That's why I went 45 minutes away to by my Mango Daytona. Then just on impulse this past August I traded it in for the bananna at the same dealership, Warnock in East Hanover.

This is such BS, especially since the TOW portion of our warranties cover towing to the closest dealership... not the dealership we bought at.

Exactly, that is what got me so pissed off about the entire thing. Even more, I stopped in last week and made the appointment to bring the car in today. It's one of those dealerships where you drive right into their garage and they come up to you with the clip board to take your info. The serviceman ran my info right there and it showed that my car was bought at another dealership. They should've just told me then that they didn't want to work on the car.
I said that what he was saying made no sense at all, even gave him an example. What if I was from California and I drove across the country in my Charger and it broke down, they wouldn't fix it because I didn't buy it there? :fuming:

definitely write a well spoken, concise letter to DCX... CC the General Manager of the Dealership.. remember the Service Manager has a boss, and that guy probably won't be too happy about him scamming customers... as well the GM won't be too happy that the SM is turning away new or potential repeat business for the Sales department.

However, with that all said... you probably wouldn't want to take it back there anyway, especially after you cause a stink.

Guys,

I read about so many of those dealers on this site called mycarsucks.com.
People go so far and register domains like ParamusDodgeSucks.com.
Check out these stories and post your own: http://www.mycarsucks.com/carssuck

I cant believe dealers don't read these websites. There is so much valuable information here.

Good luck. Try Dover Dodge in Dover, NJ next time. Great sales and support. They replaced my hood decale, fix my squeaking breaks and resprayed my door bumpers with a smile.
