I like these better than my blue's.......

Once in production, they will be sold by supporting vendor Mopar SuperCenter.
Please don't ask me for pricing with these, as I am not selling them. They do not have pricing yet either, since the manufacturer is still trying to make them as efficiently as possible, and hasn't given a cost yet.

How about some "grills" in any of the larger orange areas? Kind of a cooling look...

Funny you should ask. One of the options I was discussing with the shop, was making the HEMI perforated. Right now, I have to be a bit careful with how much perforating I do, because it does add more cost - and for some people, if they can't get it for free, they think it's too expensive! I may make them out of aluminum, to try and bring the cost down a bit.

I think you are on the right track! I still would like to perforate a set of stock covers in "just the right places." Only bad thing is these things are expensive so experimentation is out of the question.
My dad does a lot of design work on aluminum and steel. He seems to think he could put slots or perforations anywhere I want with his mill. I am really thinking about giving it a try.
Your covers are unique which makes them even better!!!

Yes - If your dad has a mill, you should easily be able to mill some slots in them. These covers I'm showing will actually be carried by supporting vendor Mopar SuperCenter, once I finalize production and costs. Pictures really do it no justice. If you want an opinion on how they look in person, you can ask Ted or Jeff at MPSC. I just need to make a 6.1 set now....

MadC,
I am heading up to pop's house next week-end and are going to do a little modification to the stock 6.1L plastic cover covers. He said no problems at all with the mill...just use real slow speed to keep from melting the plastic. I'll send ya some pics when done.

Not too slow, or you'll crack the plastic. Keep some coolant on the end mill, and turn the speed up. Just make sure you have it clamped down well!

Good point on the "too slow" speed and cracking. It would be just like splitting wood.
All agreed on the clamping...the set-up will be 85% of the task.

The HEMI name on the driver's side, can't be centered, due to the cutout for the oil fill tube. If I center one side, it would look funny, not matching the other side.....

Hmmm, laser etching the HEMI logo might be a good option.

If these will come in Inferno Red to match, they'll go straight on to my mod list. And not even at the bottom of the list. I've been looking for a way to dress up the engine compartment sans bling and loose that stock cover. These look great.
Nice work MadC.

I heard the plastic cover was to reduce the clicking noise - will these do the same job? Excuse my ignorance about the functionality of the cover - I just know it's a pain in the @$$ to get back on once I take mine off. The ones you built look much more solid.

Yes, the plastic cover also served as a noise cancellation device. These do not cover up any of the noise, which isn't all that bad anyway - just like the SRT's......

Ok, a group buy interest thread will help MadC in determining initial order quantities to give to his manufacturer. Also with an initial larger order, he may be able to get a better rate on the materials. Right now we do not have a pricing set for these, as product design has made some changes for the better in helping to reduce the costs. If this is something you are interested in, then place your name into the list. Once a finial price has been established, we will post that information. This list does not mean that you must purchase, just that you have a genuine desire to possibly purchase these during the initial stock order at a group buy rate.

How about some painting tips to keep these bad boys looking good under the hood and under the heat.
How about some painting tips to keep these bad boys looking good under the hood and under the heat.
I used Duplicolor engine paint, which still looks as good as when I did it. Surprisingly, since these covers don't extend over the headers, they don't get that hot. They do get warm, but not too hot that you can't rest your hand on 'em. I'm quite sure they will take well to any paint you put on them. I didn't even prime mine, but I guess if you wanted to do it with some real paint, it would be worth a little bit more effort with some primer.
If you really want to go custom, I was able to design my own decals from decalkits.com , and it was only 12 bucks for the pair of decals (and that was extra, due to the extra "Charger" letters I had put on the bottom of the HEMI.

Yes! You can get the decal in chrome, or brushed, or whatever color you want, and it will look just like the orange set (actually better, since it's difficult to tape off those letters perfectly!). I'll be re-doing my set again with Midnight blue, and silver decals (which look like the brushed stainless). I think this is even better, because if you're like me, you may end up changing the look now and then, which is much easier with decals. Just remove the decal, repaint, and put a new decal on.
:)

Sweet, lets get this ball a rollin
Keep in mind that the "unpainted" set does not come polished or brushed. They would still need to be painted by you (or someone that can do some wild custom paint :) ). Or, you could also polish the aluminum if you've got a buffing wheel (too much work IMO).

I need mine painted in TorRed which is actually Flame Red color code PR4.
Actually the TorRed paint code is PR3 not PR4 it is brighter than Flame Red. You can find the code on the sticker inside the driver side front door jamb.
On another note, we will be offering the decals for these engine covers on our website. We will have them in Silver, Black, Flat Black, White, Red, Blue and custom Colors.
The Custom Colors will be Chrome Mirror, Brushed Aluminum, and Engine Turn Aluminum similar to the Dashes on the 70's Trans Am's.
We will also have various text style options. If someone wants custom text such as GoManGo, TorRed, Super Bee, etc, we can do it as well, as long as it fits in the size limitations we have to work with. We can also do Hemi 5.7, 5.7 Hemi, etc.

It's never too late - I'll be ordering another run made anyway. If you don't get in on this run, it may just be another 2-3 weeks for the next set. I underestimated how many I thought we would need for this first run, since we only offered them to the Charger guys first.

Seperate - this way it will be easier for you to choose, and not have it get mixed up, since I'm sure everyone will want something different. Personally, I would get the HEMI in brushed aluminum! I couldn't get those anywhere for that price, and the sample I saw looked just like the letters on my orange set.

It's a tough choice to be sure. I kinda like the unpainted but inferno red with the brushed aluminunm hemi would also be cool. The unpainted in your thumbnail with the blue hemi that would be what it would look like not polished or brushed ?

No - the pic you're looking at is polished Stainless steel (way too expensive - price would've been closer to $150!). These are unfinished aluminum, and will not look good without either polishing them, or painting them. Inferno red with the brushed aluminum would look outrageous. The brushed aluminum decals look like it's the actual metal. I liked my original stainless set with the blue letters, but I liked them much more when I painted them!
I'll be changing mine again, making them color matched to my Midnight Blue, and getting the brushed aluminum HEMI decals in style "I".

We can do this mopar logo in the proper size if you wish. Without the SRT-8 of course.
If you want it, just pick another text option in the color you want, and make a note in the comments section that you want the Mopar Logo instead.
We will add it to the options on the website shortly.

They aren't yet available for the 6.1. I don't know that enough guys with the 6.1 would want to change out their current covers, as these were really an option for the 5.7 guys to get the half covers, without having to modify the 6.1 covers (or worse, not modify them and put a 6.1 logo on their 5.7!)
Mopar Super Center is actually in the process of a website overhaul, which I believe is slated to be completed in the next few weeks. Yes, it's not as convenient to call - but you'll enjoy the call with Jeff or Ted anyway, so you'll be glad you did.....

By Mopar blue, do you mean Midnight Blue Pearl? If so, then yes - as a matter of fact, I'm re-painting mine in Midnight blue next week also (after all, it is the best color!). I'll be going with the brushed aluminum decals though. The blue ones you see in the picture are a much lighter blue than the midnight blue. The black decal would almost be hard to see on the dark blue. It'll look great though with the brushed aluminum. I'll post pics of mine, as soon as they're done.
You'd place the orders seperately, getting the covers from Mopar Super Center, and the decals you want from RiderGraphix. This makes it easier for everyone to design these to their own style, rather than trying to make a "one size fits all" design.

You'll be very happy with the look of these. They give the engine bay a much cleaner appearance - and you can change 'em up as often as you want with little trouble.
And kudos to MPSC for the pricing. No one is making much of a profit on these things!

Pay for them by Wednesday next week, when we'll also be able to tell you shipping costs. I'm quite certain Mopar Super Center will take all the major credit cards (not sure they even do PayPal). You can really pay any time. They just won't be painted until payment is received. If everyone on the current list decides to go ahead and purchase (which usually doesn't happen), some will be on back order, as there are only 15 sets being produced in this run - so it'll end up first come, first serve.

They don't have a link yet, since they don't actually have the parts yet. If you're ordering them unpainted, they'll have them the end of this week. If you want them painted, I'll be painting them prettly much on the honor system, since they haven't been paid for yet. Depending on color, the painted ones will be done the end of this week (TorRed and Mid Blue), and the others early next week (colors that have been requested so far). Yes and no. Yes, they're bare metal (aluminum), but they aren't polished like the ones in the pic. The one's in the pic were my original prototypes, which were made out of polished stainless steel - which was far too expensive. I can get the aluminum ones stroke sanded, which would be the brushed aluminum look - but that would be an extra cost also. I actually prefer them painted, since you can match them to your car, or custom paint them however you like.

Been wanting to detail the engine bay, maybe paint a few lids, pads, etc....that are just waiting to be touched up. Maybe I go bare metal, buy a few cans of spray paint and start to doll it up. Now...hmm...do I go with some anodized blue and red looks underneath, chrome some pieces, etc....or just toss on some magnesium and make it look even more stocker. hmmmmm

I'm almost thinking that black covers with brushed aluminum decals would go nicely with the magnesium..... :)

And with a black Charger too....thats my plan:grin:
Well the covers are in my grubby hands :)
Good news is they look good
Bad news is they will require a bit more sanding before painting than I was planning for. I had a couple of sets stroke sanded, and they came out real nice, and would've made the painting easier. Oh well, I know what I'll be spending my day doing tomorrow.....

are these made on a break and then welded from the inside?

They're cut on a laser cnc, then go on a brake, and welded/ground flush on the outside.

Thanks Al - If anything, it's a good reminder to myself not to quit my day job!! :dead:
Ok guys - I've got 3 sets of TorRed, 1 brilliant black, and 1 brushed aluminum all finished and packed up. Please click on my name, and send an email to me with your name and color requested. The list is getting too confusing, as some guys are copying Ted's original, and some are copying someone elses. I'm dazed from paint fumes, so it would be much easier if you email me your details!

Actually, I've since removed it - to focus on going all out N/A. Sure was fun though while it was in there!!

That sounds like the color I am looking for. Will place my order in a few weeks after I get my other mods installed. Midnight Blue Pearl and then black Mopar decals.

Hey guys whats your best tips on getting the engine and engine bay sparkling clean
TorRedCharger06

I was thinking of just wiping everything down with some non-scented cleaning wipes. Lets you really get in the little areas and have more freedom of what gets "wet" and avoids spraying down the engine bay with water.
Also this should probably have been asked by now, but does this come with installation instructions and hardware? Thanks.

BTW I got my decals from ridergraphix today. They look great! Can't wait to get this thing done.

Install is very simple, and no hardware necessary
1. Remove big plastic engine cover
2. Remove the 4 ball screws that the plastic cover snaps on to, from the fuel rails.
3. Slide Fancy half covers in
4. Replace the 4 ball screws you removed.
Done!
The only thing I did different, was I hack sawed the ball end off of my screws. You don't need to do this, and you can always still pop your big plastic cover on if you wanted to (perhaps in winter to keep things a little warmer).
Armor all wipes work great to shine up the composite manifold also..... :)
Oh - and Inferno Red paint arrived today also, so hopefully will have them done tomorrow......
Strangely enough, my Midnight Blue, that I ordered a week prior to all of the others, has yet to show up! :(

I'm no longer making them - just didn't have enough extra time. There's a guy over on the other forums though that makes a similar set out of plastic. His screen name there is Pale Rider.
