View Full Version : Can Brylcreem Mod Cause Less Torque or is it HAL?

After reading all the posts for the Brylcreem Mod, I decided to go ahead and do it. I Just got it done yesterday...and Yes I Love the way the HEMI sounds.. This is the way they should have made the car from the factory.

The question I have is this:

Before doing the mod, I could turn left at an intersection, punch it and the car would lite the tires and slide sideways (ESP OFF). After the mod I can only get a slight chirp out of the tires. The car does not really feel any slower though. I know the reason for the X-Pipe is to create more low end torque. I wonder if the suitcase also contributes to the low end torque? OR could this be caused by HAL needing to re-learn the different back pressure? Now this is really not that big of deal to me as I can not really afford to be replacing tires more than I should have to:-). Overall I think it is still worth it for the sound.

Seems like every time I do a mod, except for the cats, she seemed a tad bit sluggish for the first 60 or so miles. Hal will learn the new breathing ability and adjust...just give it some time

RTracer thanks for the reply. I was debating disconnecting the battery for about 10 min to let HAL start over. Do you think that will be necessary?

I actually noticed a very slight power increase after the Bryl (Could be I was just lead footing a lot more though). I bet Hal will relearn though and get your performance back on track.

Nah...just be patient. Besides, from what I've read here on the forums, disconnecting the battery doesn't really reset HAL. You'd need to pull fuses instead. #11, #14 and #16 I believe.
