Pure pipes man. No suitcase, no resonators. :D I've let the Brylcreem go in an effort to go LOUD. I succeeded with flying colors...LoL

Doug, I so wish you could hear it in person....the sound is astounding. When you open her up it's almost like you can hear each one of the 350 horses galloping just behind you as they thrust you froward. I wore a bit 'ol sh!t-eatin grin the entire trip home. WOT is just pure awe!

Why didn't you just go with eCutouts and have choices? Think that is one of my nearer term mods....everyday I think about it a bit more. Add to the fact I want new tips on the exhaust and I have a hanger weld busted...it really is a maintenance item now.. Right honey?

While I did not remove the resonators, I did have the suitcase cut out and straight pipes installed. Here is my feedback on this mod after spending a day driving post-mod:
1. exhaust is noticeably louder under acceleration. At full roll-on, it absolutely growls.
2. At idle, I notice no difference in sound
3. At speed, there is a louder exhaust note...although not obnoxious. I have noticed no "drone".
4. Once OD kicks in, she purrs....exhaust is barely noticeable even with radio off.
So...my recommendation is this....if you have not "done it"...do IT! I am very happy with this $50 mod.

Well, quite honestly I'm a bit of a risk taker. I figured all the time I've spent with the Brylcreem on the car, and as much as I love it....each time I hit the gas it's just nowhere near loud enough to me. I'd been debating straights for a few months...I finally just bit the bullet and did it. I figure if I'm desperate enough to change it, it'll be an easy change later. eCutouts are a great choice for anyone that wants to go back and forth...I just decided I didn't want the hassle of something else that could break later on down the road like those could. So, I said screw it...I'm cuttin the reso's and going that route! :D

Indeed your feeling on the Bryl are spot-on! Only difference here is that I've moved on from the Bryl to straight pipes...hehe.
If you check my sig you'll see the original Bryl thread that I made some months back. :)

Sounds good. I cut the res out of an srt 8 system and kept the srt 8 mufflers. Very distinct sound. I can hear the wife pulling up when I am in the shop. Not sure if I could handle a straight exhaust on a 1600 km trip. The sound kind of drops when the engione shuts down to cruise speed.

We'll see how the long term ability to handle it goes. :) I think I'll be able to handle it...especially once there is some carbon buildup to help tone it down a little.

3" Max I would say. I would also expect to pay about $300 for a full length catback of straights. A lot of places will tell you immediately that 3" pipe isn't as easy to bend. Takes a skilled tech behind the bender.
That was the quote I got several months ago when I asked a shop how much it'd cost.

I doubt it would be too much, but without being an expert by any means, I would guess that anything larger than that would start to have adverse affects on scavenging. That's only a guess though of course without any attempt to work out the math.

Two things,
1st, It's you I have to thank for recommending the (brylcream mod).

2nd, I want to do the strait pipe's but I'm worried about my neighbors'!!
I know it's pretty loud but a sound/video clip doesn't do it justice I'm sure and I'm just afraid it might be tooooo loud?

Thanks Kyle!
Admittedly, I'm far from being too old...but that '76 T/A I had was running open headers...it truly was too loud. In idle the entire car vibrated like there were 4 12" subs in the back pumping out a full 4,000 watts. It was pure insanity...WAY over what this car cranks out, probably because there's actually pipe on it...lol.
Fading Lights are getting there slowly. The lightbus came in...I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but will tonight I hope. I'm really anxious to see how this setup comes together.

:)
I cut off my suitcases and put Flowmaster Super 40's and I cut off my resos and I LOVE THE SOUND, im thinkin of takin of cats and getting kooks header because my dad inspects cars so i can pass inspection!

I have Flowmaster 40's (not super 40's) and added the 3" inlet/outlet resonators by Flowmaster w/3.5" x 10" stainless steel tail pipes by Stallin. It sounds extremely good with out all the drone inside the car. When I first started building this system I first removed everything from the suitcase back and put in the 40's w/straight pipes. It gave me a hardon until I jumped on the freeway and went deaf. I went back and put on reso's and all the shop had was Magna Flows. It killed everything and made it almost as quiet as factory. I then got online and looked to see what Flowmaster had and ordered their reso's and had the Magna Flow's removed and the Flowmasters put in. It wound up being a great choice. It has the classic muscle car tone at idle and really opens up nice when on the gas. I have also recently had a set of ceramic JBA shorty headers put on which didn't add any drone but an even better deeper tone.

I have flowmasters with the brylcream mod and electric cutouts. That wasy with the cutouts closed, shes pretty but not too loud and with the cutouts open she sounds like thunder alley. Having the e cutouts really gives you the option of going back and forth with just the flick of a switch. I highly reccomend it.

ummmmm.... your wrong.
example: if you have too darka tinting, the cops can ticket you. but u can still pass inspection.
same thing goes for sound. there is a decibel limit that is written up in the laws. but in bigger cities most cops are more worried about other things unless theyre total d1ckbags.
secondly. you will fail inspection if you dont have your cats on. theyre at the piece of the car that controls your emmissions. and pretty much the only piece. it is why your car will likely throw codes if you replace them or your headers with after market things that aint mopar'd, even tho they can still pass inspection in that regard.
get your facts straight budday, before you get others in trouble ;)
