Camshaft Benefits?

WHen someone asks "What Mod should I do next", people usually include adding a Camshaft as an option.

What are the benfits of adding the camshaft?

You already have a camshaft, you are swapping it for one with better performance. The cam determines the intake and exhaust duration and the timing of the two. The cam can be mild, giving slightly more power at high speed - or allowing your engine to get to higher speeds, or super radical to where you don't even have enough vaccume to run your power breaks at low speed (gives a "lopey" idle). Swapping the camshaft is a major undertaking and should not be attempted by a novice.
