Dude, that is one clean, well laid out system! Very classy and with good taste. Looks like you could compete in IASCA with that one. Love the detailed stitching and attention to details in the trunk. I bet it sounds killer. How much total RMS are you pushing?
mighty noid
10-17-2006, 09:52 PM
Thanks Stretch... RMS is right around 1500 watts...
but as for IASCA... never again... I did all my contect stuff back in 1986-1900... I won a few big contests and built a few huge winners also... but I woke up one day and said SCREW THEM... why pay for a contest for some idiot to judge my car and if I win ... I get a get $12.00 trophy... most judges can't hear nowadays never installed a system in there life... they take a written test and if they pass ... then they are a judge... I can read a book and pass a test but if I couldn't hear.. why should I be a judge???? IASCA doesn't care... it's all about the money...
wow.. I didn't want to write all of that... but I had to...

OH NO... you can barely drive without a DVD player playing your favorite movie... you just drive, drink your coffee, talk on the cell phone and put on your make up all at the sametime... leave the movies at home...

I had this one lying in the closet..

i like those trunk lights, whats the install procedure like?
mighty noid
10-17-2006, 10:52 PM
I got them from Lowe's and they were like $20 bucks... they are undercounter low voltage lights...
since I had a new panel made for that top section... it was very easy install. I am not sure how they would install with that factory carpet up there.

I wish I had thought out my system more. I keep making changes, I wish we had guys like you on the east coast. At the local cruise ins I'm usually the only one with a system in his car. http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/brian_pahlm/DSCF1120.jpg

This install is very nice looking also.. the subwoofer looks factory.. great carpet match...
As for the amps... they look good also .. I am not a fan of looking at the circuit boards... also did you remove the heat sinks on the amp???? if you did and didn't use any types of cooling system like fans moving the hot air around... those should cut off from getting over heated when played hard and for a long time... just my thoughts...The heat sinks are there for a reason... to take the heat away from the rails and over heating.. .

Amazing install! Clean, not too flashy or overdone with crazy fiberglass work. That is a quality set up I bet the kicks sound nice. Just a couple questions though. Are you using a separate eq, or sound processor, and what type of woofer is in the doors? Is it meant for more mid bass frequencies or sub frequencies to bring the bass into the front stage?
mighty noid
10-17-2006, 11:32 PM
Thanks NOLA... I am using the Clarion 5.1 processor... the front 9" Dynaudio woofers are crossed at 80Hz to 400Hz and the subs are crossed at 100Hz and below I never want to leave a gap in the freq. band... so they are a lower mid-bass sound... if I want to turn off the woofers in the trunk, I can switch the door speakers to 50Hz and they sound even better with the power that I am putting to them... but when I do that, I think that it takes away from the subs when they are on.. so that is why they are set to 80Hz.

Nice, I feel the same way, I never leave a gap. The switching ability is a neat feature, didn't think about that. I'm still in the planning stage for me setup.
I use to compete in SPL drag, then out grew the boom boom and started loving SQ. Knew some very well known USACI competitors in the New Orleans area and hung around the shop and tried to learn as much as I could from them. But like you said SQ now a days is getting worse and worse, which is one of the main reasons it's dying off.
beautiful install. with exception to the obvious overload on screens, that is one of the better installs ive seen.

Who did the work on the headrests..........very clean

Well those headrest are from Planet Audio and I took them to a friend that did the rewrapped them for me and he did my nickname in them as well...
the rewrap of matching material and name cost me $220.00 for both... well worth it since they are a great match to the seat now...

Hate to bring up an older thread again, but am I crazy or is that bezel make for a single DIN unit? Was this custom done, or can it be purchased somewhere?
Thanks!!!

Chad... it was custom built for my car...
WOW...just WOW! That's an amazing set up there. I have a couple of questions about your subs in your doors. I just ordered 3 8" punch subs (2 for the front doors and 1 for the rear deck).
Anyway, first, what is the mounting depth of your subs? Mines are 4". Do you think I will have to space it out alot?
Second, did you use any type of baffle behind the speaker? Or did you dynamat the doors or something to hold the bass more?
And finally....how do they sound? does it rattle the hell out of your doors?
LOL, sorry for asking so many questions! Any amount of help would be great. Awsome job on your car man!!!

1) I don't recall the mounting depth but these are the speakers that I am using except for mine are 4 ohms.
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=295-610
2) No baffle behind the speaker but a ton of accumat from Scosche in each door. I also have a hell of a build out from mdf to space out the woofer almost right against the door panel.
3) They do not rattle at all. I have them crossed over for mid-bass only. I also have these for my mids...

They sound great. If I had to do this over... I wouldn't change a thing about it.
Thank you and I am glad you liked it.
