Went to the drag strip Saturday and removed everything I could to lighten the car up as much as possible. When I put them back in I weighted everything to see the savings... Here's what I came up with. Not sure how acturate the figures will be as I use my bathroom scales to weight them, but here goes:
Engine Cover => 5 lbs.
Trunk Insert & Cargo Net => 12 lbs.
Spare Tire => 38 lbs.
Jack => 6 lbs.
Emergency Tool Kit => 8 lbs.
SunSheild & Case => 2 lbs.
Floor Mats => 5 lbs. (yes, I took the floor mats out)
Owners manual => 2 lbs. (from glove box)
Miscellaneous Stuff => 2 lbs. (change for holder, other bull sh!t stuff)
------------------------------------------------
Total Weight Saved => 80 lbs.

don't forget to take off your belt and don't have a wallet in the car :)
But, it's interesting to see just how much extra weight we're driving aroudn with on a daily basis.

hehe...I left my spare in, my jack in, an 18 pack of beer with 2 bags of ice....for my buddy that went with me...and so I could have one after I was done racing. I also had 2 movies in the backseat, XMEN3 and MI2, plus a carduster, some rags, two bottles of water, and yes... a half tank of gas....oops!

Thanks for getting that stuff weighed, now if I can just get motivated to remove the back seats and the passenger front seat, we might get rid of another 150 pounds. hmmmmmm

How low can you go with the weight?

I cannot remember how much the rear seat weight by itsself. I weighed everything when I removed it last.............here's what I removed and the TOTAL weight of the combined items:
passenger seat
rear seat bottom
rear seat backs
trunk floor panel
styrafoam organizer thingy with air compressor
=150lbs
I'm gonna be racing one final time(in the Charger) November 9th and I'll remove and weigh each item individually for all to see and know.

You must be a giant muscle man if you think the spare only weighs 15 pounds. :)

Here's what I just weighed:
Rear Seats
40% Cushion = 11#
60% Cushion = 21#
Seat Cushion = 13#
Trunk
Floor = 11#
Sides (3) = 6#
Spare Tire
Tire = 30#
Jack & Hardware = 6
Total = 98#
Now if I can just figure out how to remove the two back side cushions that aren't shown in the service manual, I should be able to hit 100 pounds! Anyone know how to remove these?

My car has been feeling faster on the weekends, and I'm feeling it right now. I just got done emptying my trunk of the during-the-week lately stuff - a box of parts/books/etc., must weight 30lbs. Two compressor tanks, a 10 gal and 5 gal, my laptop/bag/power supply/misc. cables. Briefcase "bag". Another laptop. A few water bottles. I haven't weight it, but that crap adds up!
Plus, two medium boxes of kids fundraiser frozen stuff (had to use the seats for that - an emergency, temporary measure).
One reason I got a Charger - a sporty car, and can still bring family, and carry a lot of stuff in the trunk and not have to use the seats at all for cargo.

If you want to get really extreme, you can remove the scrape plate on the bottom of the car, and remove the engine cover.

Purely in the interest of science, I once weighed myself "before" and "after." Somehow, I GAINED 1/2 a pound in the process...
