We have NEW complete 6.1L Hemi engines in stock ready for shipping. These are complete motors including the components as follows.
Engine harness
Intake Manifold
Throttle Plate
Injectors and rails
ignition coils, plugs
Flexplate
oil dip stick
oil filter
and much more!
These would be a perfect power plant for your older restoration, or street rod project. These Hemi engines are extremely hard to get, and even harder to get brand new. These are only available for a limited time, as supplies are extremely limited.
Call us today for more details!

I thought these were restricted. I ordered a new oil pan yesterday and the parts guy was put through the mill by the star parts people. I can't understand why DCX doesn't sell anything and everything. I read they cut back on shifts at the Mexican plant where they make the hemi motors. Why not crank it up and sell sell sell? Fuggitabout all of these restrictions. Make more money DCX.

When you say "these", do you mean more than one?

Our retail price is on the web site. Now if someone from this forum wanted one for an older restoration or street rod, we may be willing to work out a deal.

That is really reasonable. Looks like it even has the headers. How about the computer?

As I understand it, heres how it works. In general terms, the plant in Mexico is assembly, and recives parts form suppliers, which then get assembled into a complete motor. Parts orders from dealerships compete with the plant for supply.
So, as we saw in the great AC cam fiasco, folks start ordering hundreds of units, that throws off the expected quantitites in the chain. So, the plant expected to get 300 cams on teusday, but the forumites bought half of the 400 unit weekly supply, leaving only 100 for Mexico. Sucks to have a plant shutdown or slowdown becuase some guy mismeasured a freaking cam.
Mopar Performance stuff is different, but can face similar issues. At one point, SRT-4 Stage kits were ona long hold becuase the entire supply of PCM blanks were reserved for the production line, leaving none for Mopar.
DCX would love to sell Mopar stuff, but not at the exspense of slowing down a production line.

Wow, that's a really reasonable price for that motor! I would have expected it to be a bit more.
So why the limited quantities, do they plan to continue to offer the 6.1, just slowing trickling out, or are they just dumping some extra inventory?

Not the same thing I am talking about. Just as they are cutting back on production because they lost like 1 billion last quarter, they are cutting back at the plant in Mexico for the hemi engines also. I think I read it in the WSJ, or heard it on CNBC.

This engine does not include a computer. We have located a complete system to control this beast that would be at an additional cost. The complete engine management system to put this into a non-computer controlled vehicle would be about 2 grand more.

Ah, got it, they cut production of all hemis from 1,600 to 1,300 units a day. All reports tie this into a reduction in light truck sales.
http://www.detroitnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060912/AUTO01/609120363/1148
Now, heres a few numbers to chew on. From that article linked.
Global Insight is forecasting 516,000 Hemi engines to be built this year, which is the same as 2005. But production is projected to dip to 495,000 Hemi engines in 2007.
Now, figuring about 5K each for the four SRT-8 platforms, thats what, 20K 6.1 motors a year? 6.1s are about 1/25th of that 516,000, a drop in the bucket, and might not even be affected by this production cut.
This might explain why there are still restrictions on 6.1 parts.

So my suggestion is to bump the production back up 300 units per day and build more 6.1L and take them off restriction. Remember the old hemi's? When supply got limited Kieth Black and others started producing them. Why wouldn't DCX try to take advantage of the demand themselves. They are forcing, it seems, Kieth Black and Milidon style competition with unnecessary supply constraints and restrictions.

Are we talking whole motors, or some of the parts? Becuase the whole motors are not on restriction, just some of the parts, right?

I haven't checked, nor do I think a whole motor even has a part number??? I can't imagine the whole motor isn't on restriction. I am positive the short block is on restriction. I tried to get one. I am not sure how Super Center has managed this, but they are able somehow to sell the short block also. There must be some sort of over supply or something. I heard a rumor that DCX is changing the new 6.1L to a cross bore or something like that. It may explain why the liquidation at dealers like Super Center.

The whole motors are a restricted item as well, however these are not a star center restriction! The short blocks are a star center restricted item as are the other 6.1L items. We had to jump through hoops to get these.

We don't have a whole lot of information on this as we have not attemted to do this yet. We are looking at installing one of these in a certain ram quad cab, silver with a flame job. That belongs to someone who post on here. the person in question can not be named but you might know who he is.
