anybody have had problems with the esp coming on when you are in drive and idle?

If you sit idle for an extended period, the ESP light may come on.

It does it when I am in a fast food line about 3 or 4 min.

That seems like a very short period of time for it to occur, however, as has been said, it is an issue that has been raised before.

I've not seen it that quick. Once that I recall, but it was certainly over 10 minutes, idling, in D with the brakes on. Waiting for the wife to come out of a store. I got busy messing around with stuff. One beep, and the ESP and BAS lights came on. A restart reset them. I make it a habit not to do that again.

I have had the same happen to me.
It was explained to me here that HAL thinks there is a stuck brake.
I took it to the dealer to check for a stored code. Nothing came up at all.

Looking through the service manual it looks like it happens because HAL thinks the brake SWITCH is shorted.

I had problems once with the ESP light awhile ago.. I think I got some bad gas..and the next morning I had problems starting the Charger.. So I held the gas petal down, and cranked her over, she went, but the ESP light came on.. I let the car run for about 10 mins.. turned it off..and when I restarted the car.. the light was gone.. NEVER EVER happened again..

This happened to me ONCE, and I thought I did something wrong.

I was in line at a bank to go through the drive thru...my mom owns a business so I had to wait in the commercial line..or w/e its called. The idiot in the front decided he would take his sweet time...after about 12-15minutes of sitting there, the lights came on..hitting the button did nothing...so I turned the car off and turned it back on..problem never happened again. But I don't idle for more than 2 minutes, if that anymore.

FYI, my ESP BAS light would come on and stay on then I would stop and restart and it would go away for a couple of days, I took it to the dealer and they had to replace the steering module and steering sensor. Everything is fine, under warranty of course. Just wanted to post so a future searcher could find this.

It just happened to me! I was playing the waiting game in a left hand turn lane when lo and behold the ESP light was on! Mind you I was sitting there for a good bit waiting for my turn.
