Small world. I know ANTMAG from a project in did on the KC-130Js he supports. And Jmorrel lives about 10 miles away from me. I saw his car at the dealer before he bought it.

I was active duty as an AO1 Inflight Ordnanceman in P-3 Orions from 83-96, then I left active duty and worked a contracted ordnance maintainence tech on the helos at Rotary Wing Test Directorate for 3 years.

For the last 5, Ive been an enginering tech for safe separation testing for expendable countermeasures on all Navy/Marine aircraft.

Oh, and I did 8 years reserve time with VP-92 in BRunswick, ME, retired last year.

He worked for Pratt & Whitney for a while in West Palm Beach, where we're from. Me, I've never served, but I promise you guys, NO ONE is more proud of ALL of you, this country, and loathe those who want to burn our flags, have their pic taken with the enemy (Hanoi Jane), remove God from the pledge, and fly OUR PLANES into OUR BUILDINGS killing OUR PEOPLE. I never served either. But like the other Mike, my dad did. He stormed Tarawa with the Second Marine Division. I'm so damned proud of him, tears start welling up when I think about it. He gave my oldest son his bible that he carried into battle, and his Purple Heart (Japanese sniper, luckily not a good shot).

I love this country so much, and I love you guys that serve and have served it. I am forever grateful.

Congratulations there jweland! I loved the boats and the informality onboard. The HALE was decommissioned around 1986 and turned into razor blades, or whatever they do with pig boats. You'll have to let me know how you progress through the OTS. If you return to subs, it will be nice to pull into port with your HEMI Charger patiently waiting at the end of the pier!! :headbang:

Two of them didn,t come home, but just thinking about them, some of the stuff we did together, make s for some nice reflections. Dave

No Coasties in here? Well, I'll add myself then...USCG, both AD and Reserve, 1992-2005. Mostly East Coast (STA Pt. Judith, RI; RTC Yorktown, VA, USCGC VALIANT WMEC-621 in Miami Beach, FL) but did some Gulf Coast time too (RESUNIT Birmingham, AL; STA Mobile, AL; Port Security Unit 307, St. Petersburg, FL; last assignment reserve activation for 7 months at MSO Pt. Arthur, TX). Last reserve unit was MSO St. Louis, MO---not a good place for Coasties...we need to be out by the real shoreline.

I still serve, after a fashion; currently I'm a DoD GS-12 at Pearl Harbor, HI. As a BTW: Hawaii finally got its first Daytona R/T out here---it's in the showroom at Windward Dodge in Kaneohe (north side of the island)!

Thinking about selling my Marauder...Honolulu PD is buying them!

I joined to become a FIELD MEDIC in Vietnam.

I enlisted on 1-2-73 and went to Fort Knox, KY for Boot Camp, I remember running the mile in full military gear in 5 minutes and 44 seconds.

Then I was transferred to Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Tx where I went through my AIT School. Got out of school and was told that NAM was over and they were not sending anymore troops over. So they let me back to school and I choose to become a Phamacist. Wouldn't you know it I still didn't get to do that either. I ended up becoming a Nosicomial Inspector of the Hospitals; I had to prove the patients got infected with a Hospital Disease due to a DR Malpractice or a Nurse's Negelect. I go to see many things like Burn Patients, Surgerys on cancer victims, and open heart surgeries.

I ended up getting permanant party at Ft Sam Houston which for those in the know is BACHELOR PARADICE, the girls out number the guys like 3 to 1. With those odds, and being only 19, owning a 69 Road Runner with a 440 SIX PACK, 4-speed car didn't hurt me either with the ladies.

They did send me TDY to Camp Drum, Watertown, NY for 3 months and the only girl I saw was my boss who was a Full Bird and she was starting to LOOK GOOD to me, that is when I knew it was time to go back to Ft Sam Houston.

I did meet my wife while stationed at Ft Sam, I was from Ohio, she was from Wisc, we meet in Texas, and we got married in Colorado and have been married for 31 years now.

Oh, by the way I got out of the military on 11-15-75 as I cashed in 45 days of leave. Heck who would want a vacation from paradice ???? I did make it up to Spec-4 but got busted down to E-3 by my E-8 Sarge as he caught me with a girl in the shower in the barricks on a Saturday (dang surprise inspections).

I did try to re-enlist for Operation Desert Storm but I was to old they said. All said and done I had a great time during my almost 3 years in the Army.

Regards
Chuck

So far I havent regretted it, I get to see my youngest grow up everyday and I missed that with the other two. Thats one of the great things about the military, it gives you a sense of perspective on life and you appreciate even the seemingly mundane things that a lot of people take for granted.

Rick,

Thanks bro! I've got to tell you though, the limited time I've spent on ships (around 30 days total in 12 years) I have gained more respect for the ball busting, 18 hour days, 7 days a week, work that most of the guys do while underway. We get spoiled in the Teams. I spent 3 months in Pattaya, Thailand in a beach bungalow in a resort with made service while the guys on the ship were appreciative for their 3 days of liberty.

I have taught the Canadian Military... Martial Art's for the past 9 years. Taught Security Enforcement just before the Olympic Games were held here.

So I have a lot of friends that are currently in the Military I have three real good buddies that are in Afghanastan right now. Two weeks ago a student of mine. (not a real close friend) was killed in Khandahar.

I remember vacationing as a kid, in San Diego and saw alot of Marines and Navy Men and Women...I always remembered how cool they looked!!! Took my kids to San Diego in October and saw alot of the same looking people!!! Something about that look and commorodity (sp) that sorta takes my breath away.

USMC 1996-2000 Adjutant's Clerk (imagine my surprise when i learned i joined the marine corps to become a clerk)

I was first stationed with HMM-364 at MCAS El Toro until another unit(HMM-268) completing work ups and set to deploy on WestPac had a clerk go UA. Came back to El Toro and was one of the last units to leave the air station. Once at Camp Pedleton I went to MALS-16 when admin was consolidated and stayed there until December of 1999 when I started terminal leave. I wasn't a sh!tbag, but after three years or so I realized I wouldn't make a career out of it and started to focus on that wake up...My only regret.

Hey TorRed,

How is it taking the Charger out on the autobahns? I bought mine on PCS leave coming from Germany. I would kill to take it for a ride there.

I only occasionally drive it that hard. Have had it up to the rev limiter only once (approx 150 mph). As you know, there are a lot of fast cars out there.
Many Audi, BMW, and Mercedes vehicles are now available with more than 500hp. Can't run with them.
