Does anyone know if there are any type of header replacements for the Charger V6 SXT? If so who makes them?

These might fit. Someone needs to take the chance and buy them. Take them to an exhaust shop and see what they can do.

Just by looking at them, I don't think they'd even come close to fitting in the engine bay. Our motor takes up almost the whole bay anyway, and these headers stick way out to the sides.

I was looking at my headers a few days ago and it looks like there is a precat welded right to the collector... If we could get rid of that precat we may see some performance gains...

I think there is room. The existing exhaust manifold plus heat shields take up quite a bit of that space but even then I see gaps on either side.

I sent an Email off to Paxton asking about these headers. I'll let you all know if I hear anything back from them.

I, too, would like headers. But, I think I'll wait to see what the guys on LXForums, who are currently working on a turbo for the HEMI and have promised a V6 version, come out with. By the time my extended warranty expires, either headers or a turbo kit should be available for the V6.

I'd be more surprised if you did hear from them. I have emailed them a couple of times with questions, and I've never heard back from them.

Update - It seems that the Paxton headers are cheap POS. I spoke with Belanger Headers and ProwlerPro. They are not sure if Prowler headers will fit or not but Dean at ProwlerPro is willing to look into it for us. He is going to buy some exhaust gaskets for the 3.5L V6 and see how the holes line up. Since Belanger Headers is right up the road from me in Phoenix they may use my car or one of our Phoenix member's cars for fitment / jig. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. This is all preliminary.

That would be cool if they decide to make some 3.5L headers. The 3.5L has been around for a long time, but it was never considered a performance engine, or at least never in a real performance car. The Intrepid R/T and 300M were the top applications, and since Dodge never promoted any kind of aftermarket for them, nobody developed much beyond exhaust and intake for them.

It would be cool to see 300HP from the 3.5L V6, with headers/exhaust/intake and maybe a throttle body, give some extra grunt to that 3900lb beast.

Sweet. When are you looking to have this done/tried? Let us know how it goes.

After thinking about it a bit more, I think the headers would be better (for me) than waiting for a turbo. If I wait unitl the turbo is done, and for my warranty to run out, then, based on the number of miles that I put on my car, I'll have over 100k, and I'm not sure that I would want to turbo an engine with that many miles. So, bring on the headers!!!

Hopefully soon after I hear back from them. If I keep getting side jobs making extra cash it will be good. If they don't get installed in Phoenix I know a great place in Tucson to have them put on.

I want headers.... I figure I will do headers and full exhaust, K&N intake, Jet 2 chip and maybe a throttle body and call it a day. If that does not pout me where I want to be, 50 Dry shot should get me there. And by this time the SXT should be paid off and I will buy a Sublime or Plum Crazy....

I left a message with Prowlerpro (Dean) last week. He has not called back yet. I'll call again but I want to give him some space. I don't want to be all over him and piss him off.

I'm not sure about the K&N. Are you talking about a drop-in filter? If so, it should be the same filter as for the 5.7 V8. The stock airbox is the same size.

OK, just got off the phone with Dean from Prowlerpro. He said that everything lines up as far as the ports are concerned. He said they would not need to make a new flange which is good. He is willing to send me a used set of headers to see if my local exhaust shop can fit them on. He wants me to give him a call next week to make sure the expected car comes in for header removal.

that is just awesome! If everything works out than you get a free set headers for your V-6. Lucky dog!
Also if everything works out I am feeling a group buy for the V-6 ers and prowlerpro making some good money off of V-6 Charger owners. I'll have to tell the wife as soon as she gets in, I am feeling some "extra care" for me tonight!

I also just spoke with Lou Belanger of Belanger Headers. He is up the road 100 miles from me in Phoenix. He makes the headers that ProwerPro sells. It sounds like he is willing to look at my car as well. If the headers are only a little bit off he can easily make the changes. If this works out we would buy the Belanger headers from ProwlerPro. Belanger does not sell direct.

"Just got off the phone with Belanger Headers, who happen to be 8 miles away from me, and they seemed exited that there might actually be a market for the headers. As soon as they are done with a custom they are building, they are going to throw my car up on the rack and see if the headers will fit... stay tuned :P"

The Belanger folks think headers will make a big difference for the V6. More hp. Much more more is unknown though. Hopefully a lot.
