Just wondering what the recommended tire pressure is for the 17's with the steel rims. I've poked through my manual but can't seem to find it.

Look on the inside of your drivers door!

check the wall of the tire
or on the inside of the drivers side door

No, no!!!!
The number on the tire is the maximum pressure for that tire.
Never go by that number

I put 40lbs in. When drag racing at the track I lower the rears to 30 and raise the fronts to 45.
My Charger has a placard stating the wheels and tires are 18" but the actual tires are 17" (not sure if it was the wrong sticker or the wheels were replaced or stolen -- bought it used).
The car had 40 psi all around when I picked it up, is this what the 17" placard says ? Anyone with 17's feel like taking a snapshot of the placard in the driver door and posting it ? :D
bump, I'm being told that the 17" tires have a 30 psi recommendation on the tire placard ??? Is this the same for the 18" tires as well ?
can someone please confirm ? I reduced the pressure from 40 to 30 and the ride seems a bit more comfy (and tires might be a bit more chirpable).

Most cars out there come with a recommendation of 30 psi, or around there.
Here's a little something I noticed for a few years now...
for many years I was told overinflation was the key to good mileage, especially on the highway. I also figured it couldn't hurt to stiffen up the tire some and keep tire temperatures down. By overinflation, I mean 36-ish PSI.
Now here's the weird part... did a long highway trip once with a Trans Am (I forget which one) at the factory-recommended 30 PSI. Result: best mileage yet to that point.
I've since switched to sticking to factory recommendations (except for special cases, like my Marauders... 2003 Marauders had 30 or 32 psi recommendations but the rear tires kept chewing the centers, so for 2004 the factory recommendation was upped to 34 psi for the same tires... of course, in true Ford fashion, the 2003 owners were SOL when it came to paying for tires out of their pockets. Seems the sidewalls were too weak to keep the tires from ballooning at highway speed, hence the center wear when properly inflated).
One more interesting detail I just discovered: I instinctively installed my winter tires after having bumped them up to 34 or 36 PSI out of concern that as a winter tire, the car might be a little wobbly. Well, I lowered them to 31 PSI a few tankfuls ago and my missing 2 MPG has come back.
Again, it seems like the overinflation-for-economy tradition doesn't apply to newer high performance radials.

do all v6's chargers come with the same goodyear tires? when I was buying my SXT the dealer told me sometimes they get continental tires on the chargers that come in.

I have a question. If we have a low tire, will it show on the dashboard? Mine is a SXT too.

i have the R/T wheels as well with the continental tires. i recently changed the 2 front to pirelli all weather p6's and still have continentals in the back due to finding a nail in the front left tire (I always manage to find a nail in my tire somehow). My question is are the continentals any good in the snow? the tread pattern dont look like they can handle the snow well and considering at the moment to change them
