OK so I bought the GSM esp/fan mod kit...I installed the new t-stat...and after investigating heavily to try and understand all the wiring instructions for the mod (which I think the instructions are crap) I've decided to not do the install myself....and I really don't know anyone around here that has experience tinkering under the hood with this type stuff.

My question is....where should I take the kit to get someone to wire it and how much should I expect to pay for it.....any other ideas???

It would be super sweet if there was a video installation somewhere, why don't they just do all of them in video for crying out loud.!!!!

My dealer installed mine...any mech that works with auto wiring should be able to do it...expect to pay $100+..

I have a "1 in a 100" dealer...they even installed headers & PP headsfor my brother's RT. They will be installing my PP heads when I get them..no warranty issues..:)

They also installed the GSM Mod for rsgt..another member here...

Elcobra44 and I installed this over the weekend, their directions could be better. We also discovered that before running the harness in the car, it was easier to connect the wire by the fuse panel and pin 22. This way we knew exactly how much wire we had to work with.

Does your fan work when the ignition is off? Mine does but rsgt's does not...he has an SRT also..

Tell him to check fuse number 24...my fan didn't work either because fuse 24 was left out from the factory...John @ GSM and I trouble shot it and figured it out...if you have any technical questions for anything GSM, call John...he's a great guy and very willing to help.

Yeah, I remember your thread on that but I don't think it is his problem because he can turn the fan on if the engine is running...odd thing is you can turn the ignition to on position (engine not running) and the fan will not work..only when the engine is turning over will it come on..

It only seems to run when the car is on.. Honestly, I can't say I've ever heard the fan at all until after we did the mod..

That's what I'm going to try tonight. John just told me this same thing too

Another 100.00 for this poor guy to have this mod installed?? If I lived closer to him I do it for him!!!!! GSM should get their act together with those instructions. Its not the first time we've heard this.

the instructions are ok if you know what your doing. For me, I had to read and re read them a dozen times. Also, just a few clear pictures and not the crap they send would make the whole process painless.

JD, if you are comfortable enough making the crimps etc, then maybe all of us can walk you through this install. Take a look at the instructions and lay out the parts. Then, set it up without making any cuts into any wiriing. That's what I did. Then, once every piece had a place and I knew I had it right I started cutting and crimping. There's only a few parts really so once it makes sense to you when you see it "live" you'll get it done. Once you lay it out you can post questions before doing anything permanant.

Alright....if elcobra44 will be kind enough to come by one day, maybe we can get some better pictures together. The process goes a whole lot easier if you have an idea of what you're doing.
I have another idea.....they have those electric fan systems that have the temp. sensor that sticks in the radiator, what if we connected that temp. sensor instead of the switch?
BTW...the high speed fan on my SRT sounds like a small plane...

Mango, the gauge pillar was pretty easy to install. I'm finishing up attaching the top to the stock A pillar. If it all works right, I'll post some pics later tonight or tomorrow.

Elcobra44, glad to see that you got the good side, that must've been before the "water fairies" hit.

If any of the Chicago peoples want to get together this weekend, we could have a mini-mod weekend by my house. Nothing fancy but a 2-car garage with enough tools to break some stuff.

Maybe an install video of the GSM fan mod?

"Break stuff," eh? Sounds interesting. No immediately impending mods on my horizon, and I'm thinking of autocrossing at Maywood Park on Sunday, but I wouldn't mind hanging out for a while and learning a thing or two...

What are going to break, er, I mean mod.?:nervous s
It seems that a better GSM fan mod instruction set / video(?) is on the agenda. elcobra, maybe we'll partially undo yours and solder the connectors? I need to do the blinker mod, maybe finish my gauge pod, blinker mod, radar detector(?), lighted grille(http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=366582#post366582), pretty full list already.

We could easily take some good pics of the wiring..

I'd also like to rewire the switches - putting the fan switch under the wheel and hopefully the ESP to the factory ESP off switch in the bezel.. (has anyone done this?)

Then I want to remove the NAV to ship..

Uhm, install some LEDs.. :ninja:

uuuuh.... Then maybe drive through some puddles and get the SRT look...? Sorry, inside joke.
