Just recieved my daytona, but have yet to drive it. Bought it in Il and had it transported to Ca. ( prices for the cars in ca are outrageous)- Picked up car and drove it about 2 miles when i noticed that the car was having trouble shifting gears. It seems that the car had put itself in some type of proctect mode.
Car has been at a dealer since thursday. Seems to be a problem with the speed sensor code or the trans code. They are suppose to talk to detroit on monday.
Anybody have any ideas?? I want to dirve my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS- dealer and dodge have been great taking care of the car

I had a similar problem with my R/T. The service dept. replaced the electrohydraulic control unit and installed a new lead board and solenoid. This remedied the problem since the car is running fine . Hopefully this will help your problem.

What do you want pics of his broken tranny???

A few people have had this problem with the tranny but after the fix have been very happy....

SupraTT...I think you have overstayed your welcome. You are on a Charger forum and every post that I have read that you posted is worthless

NO GOOD INPUT = TROLL

i second that antmag....my patience is dwindling down..always negative comments...

back to the subject......the charger is my first brand spanking new car (not a new used car) so if you are having problems like this and they can't work it out in a timely manner can you just ask for a different one? this may sound like a stupid question but this is what lemon laws do correct???

i feel your frustration brother....hang in there. when it is all worked out you will be so happy you won't be able to contain yourself.

Definitely, Lemon Law States If Your Car Is In The Repair Facilty For A Period Of 30 Days And That Does Not Have To Be Consecutive You Can File For Lemon Law.. They Will Have To Take Your Car Back And Either Give You A New One Or Give Your Money Back.. Whichever You Prefer... Lemon Law Takes A Little Bit But Be Patient.. You Will Always Get A Bad Apple In Every Bunch... Unfortunately This Does Happen.... Sorry For Your Troubles...

dealer prep done in illinios- had the car shipped to california- only had three
miles on it when i recieved it - has been in " intensive care" since then-
hopefully will know in a day or two if they will get it to work or if it's time for them to go find me a new car!!!

You keep saying it's "on life support" etc without actually saying anything.
What have they done? anything? what have they checked, replaced? fluid levels, fuses, connectors?
Saying its sick and complainig here is not going to help, if its help you want, then guys and gals here need a little more to go on.

I hope you get it sorted, relax.

Bet in the end its a simple fix.

In his first post he told us that the tranny put itself in safe mode...this is a function of the vehicle computer and the tranny...It had to sense a problem and that is why this happened...The one time I heard about this I think I recall them saying there was a module they had to replace that is in the dash...Not sure...

Darnice...If he knew how to explain it all the way he would be able to tell the dealership how to fix it...Relax...

My truck had "limp mode" trouble before I could drive it home the first night. They replaced parts to no avail. After a week & 1/2 or so, one of the technicians decided to clean and reseal the connectors which fixed it. Two years later, I have had no other problems and am more than satisfied.

He said, "nothing has worked yet-" I was just curious as to what they had tried or done in the week they have had it. So far, it seems like nothing.
All you have to do is hook it up to the Chrysler Diag tools and you can test EVERYTHING to do with the engine and Trans. Would not take long to isolate the problem. Sounds like one of two things here, either a dumbass dealer or story is made up.

KingWing to the rescue
This Daytona was PDIed in Il and nothing was found. With 4 miles on it check engine came on and car went into limp mode. Code (1) P0717 and (2) P2784
were set in computer. Dealer reset and no problem found. After another mile the same thing happened. Dealer replaced the trans valve body. After another mile same thing happened. Dealer found connector to tranny loose. After another mile same problem. Dealer has called DM and tech to assist. 18 days and counting to lemon law. I'm not sure if the dealer is a dumb ___ or the car is a lemon. I guess we will find out in 12 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When **** like this happens just hope for the lemon law so they'll buy it back and just get another one. I think it's BS when you spend thousands of dollars on a brand new car and you can't drive it because it's having problems. I know because I bought a 05 Jeep Liberty and I had it in for 2 new transmissions before it even hit 1000 miles and they tried to tell me that since I didn't get the extra warranty they wouldn't give me a rental car. I almost went to jail that day.

The latest on this Daytona is that the dealer has given up and requested an engineer from the factory to make a decision on what is wrong with this car. It sound like a bad wire or connecton somewhere, I think the question is where. 20 days and counting and the dealer is not saying what codes are coming out of the computer but now the problem only occurs when car is cold. Runs well when warm but the dealer is putting on the miles. I think chrysler should take this car back and try to understand the root cause of the problem and not let the owner pay for something that he cannot use since the problem occured with less the 5 miles on it and then the car when to the dealer on a hook. The car has never worked. any comments?

Man - I feel for ya... Especially with a limited number of Daytona's out there. I'm sure I would have NO patience with this. I hope you don't give up on the Daytona's - unbelieveable car - looks and performance.

It looks like this Daytona is going down for the count. Dealer is replacing the wiring harnesses but still no luck. Chrysler is not doing a very good job at trying to work the issues out or give the dealer any help. I had a SRT8 on order but I have decided to cancel if they cannot help uncle daytona get a new car.. It is flat out poor customer service and this is what keeps a companys reputation from suffering, but I can see things have not changed much in the automotive industry. Chrysler is not even sent a Rep to see or help out. Very sad that this has to happen. 29 days in the shop can you spell Daytona GoMango LEMON.
