Looking for window tinting in the northend, any recommendations.
What percent of tint is everyone using in Washington?

Thanks

I don't know of any good shops up north but I do know the laws for window tint in Washington state. Front driver and passenger window can be no darker then 35%, rear three windows can be as dark as you wish. Granted you can find place that will do illegal tint and you may not get hassled for it, but I just figured I'd toss out what was legal.

I know most guys around here use either 35 or 20. just depends on how dark you want to go. I cant recommend any good shops up north.

if they look legit they will do a good job, i havent heard of any horror stories with window tint.

Be cautious of metalic tinting on the rear window. It will interfere with your AM radio (there are times that I listen to it when the Mariners are playing). I have to get mine switched to non-metalic. We tested one at the dealership that got the same tinting. As soon as they replaced it with non metalic, the AM radio worked fine again. I guess that is the drawback of having the antenna in the rear window.

I'm curious what price you guys are seeing. A top notch place in Raleigh, NC offers a ceramic tint (dosn't interfere with Nav system) for $470. Sounds steep to me.

the laws on window tinting on car's have changed for alot of states as of jan 1 of this year and the fine's have gotten a lot steeper in most state's just like speeding ticket's in the great state of GA. in washington state the new law on window tinting is 35% on the whole car period!!! and on a van or suv it is 35% on the front doors and any thing you want on the rear's as long as you have 2 out side mirror's and in VA the new law is 50% on the front door's and no more then 35% on the rear 3 window;s and vans and suvs can have any thing on the rears as long as the fronts are not darker then 50% and in washington DC the new law is clear 70% on the front doors and only 50% on the rears and of course vans and suv's can have any thing on the rears and rear sides if you have 2 outside mirrors. 50 and 70% tint is almost clear but it is the law. now in fla our tint law got darker this year. it went from 35% front 20% on rears to 22% on the fronts and 15% on the rears. and in washington DC a police officer has the right to make you remove the tint on your car right there on the spot in the middle of the street if it's illegal tint. but no other state has that law it's a non moving violation in every state other then washington DC. it has to do with security of the capital.
