Searched and searched but didn't find a walk through for the hardwired V1 installation with the passenger side A-Piller; so I made one myself. BTW this was done on my SRT8 Charger...

Note: These pictures are on a secure connection so when it asks just say yes. If you still can't see the pictures PM me and I'll email em to you.

Here's what you'll need that comes in the Valentine 1 box. You will also need a crimper and a screwdriver. (I also recommend a Multimeter if you have one)

https://www.palmero.us/images/SRT8/v1/2.jpg
*GENTLY* pull the top of the A-Piller to expose the wires you'll need to tap into.

The wire you will need to find is the PINK one. I double checked it with a Multimeter.

Pinch the wiring harness connector to the PINK wire. Note: wire might be thicker than the pinch connector - You might have to carefully remove some of the sheathing.

Connect the connector plug to the pinch connector.

This is where I connected the ground "black" wire from the black gizmo.

Mounting of black gizmo with power cable that goes to V1.

Tuck in your wires and *GENTLY* close the A-Piller. Note: I say gently because you may have a wire that is in the way and can get pinched.

Mount V1 and test before tucking the power cable. Note: I tested the V1 throughout the installation to make sure everything was ok as I went along.

Tuck the power cable -test again- and you're done!

I hope this walkthrough helps some of you that are contemplating doing it yourself. Again if you have any questions just PM me. In my opinion this is a pretty straight forward and easy installation. I'm no electrical engineer or car mechanic if that says anything.

Why is there a certificate authorization popping up?

Because the pictures are on my secure server. Just accept. I will eventually change this but I like things safe :p

Having a website certificate only means that the author of the site / certificate swears it's really that site. Yours is "self created", created outside of one of the commonly recognized certificate authorities, so it pretty much doesn't add or take away any risk.

Kinda like a stranger walking up to you on the street, with a hand in his pocket, saying "you can trust me, would you come with me"?

Once a "secure" session is established, it only encrypts the traffic to and from the server. But if they're just picture of an install, there's not much point in encrypting it anyway.

The negative here is, in my case at least, answering "no" required about eight "no's" to finally get past it. Worse than going ahead and viewing typically safe picture files unencrypted.

I do appreciate your efforts in documenting the hard wire mod though! It's just getting overshadowed by the delivery method, that's all.

Good job and write up, now one step further to help you keep your new V-1.

$30 tint strip across windshield to hide visual of your unit stuck to windshield.
Other cars that I have had mine mounted in had the factory strip across them that prevented you from seeing the unit. I didn't notice the lack of one on my Daytona until I mounted my V-1. Will also help hide your electronic tag too. I have never had a theft issue with my V-1 hidden in this manner and have never had to remove it for fear of that reason. They won't try to take what that can't readily see!

I'm curious if the tint can interfere with the laser detection?

I have noticed no reduction in lasar detection, I know that if you have a car with the heated/defrosted windshield option, that it may cause a problem. I have recently encountered Lasar/Lidar here in OK, with no problem on detection. Also you can get Lasar false alarms from new cars with a certain brake light set-up and certain neon looking building lights, I still get those alerts at the same distance as before the tint strip.

Thanks for this write up. I'm looking at purchasing a V1 shortly, and this just made the case for it :)

Chevy trailblazers / GMC Envoys do that to me every time, within about 15 feet from behind them, only when their brake lights are on. It's quite annoying! So, I always keep an even greater distance than usual when behind them (I always keep my distance anyway).

And, there's some strange phantom laser source in my area. If anyone's near Berkely / Ferndale Michigan and wants to see it, drive eastbound 10 mile road from Woodward - laser goes off like crazy through that area. I rarely get there, but it's happened twice recently. I never did pinpoint the source, at first I though my V1 had just "blue screened".
