Well, this is the first online forum I have joined, so I'll be watching, reading and learning how to get around. My story...
My first introduction to Chargers was when I was 5 and my Dad brought home a slot-car race set for my brother and I with 2 1966 Chargers. From that moment, I wanted a Charger. After graduating high school, I came across a yellow 66 with a 318. Of course I was hoping for a Hemi, but it was super-clean, and only $1500! I bought it and still have it today. (I also still have the slot-car)
Fast-forward 22 years. The only other cars I have owned have been a variety of Jeeps, and figured I would always be a "Jeep Guy" since I love getting off-road.
Well then the '06 Charger came out, 40 years after my first, and the same year I turned 40. I took it as a sign, and started researching. To sum it up, I found a red '06 R/T with the R/T Package (I call it "R/T squared"), with minimal extras, just the way I like it - no frills. I called the dealer and bought it on my birthday. (ya,ya... midlife whatever!!!) So, I will be reading here regularly. Already learned a few things that I will do - hood struts, AC filter, etc...
I am now a officially a car-guy again, and am loving it! I had forgotten how nice it is to drive a real a car every day, and am not missing the Jeep at all - I was SUV'd-out! Having all that Hemi under foot sure is nice too.
Later.
