This definitely interests me! Though going to Sudbury this weekend, perhaps next Friday if enough people are willing to meet?
I have never been on the track and would like some assistance from someone who's been there!

L.T.B.C I think you will find most people at the track willing to help. They're a friendly bunch.

I think I'm going to skip Cayuga this Friday night (September 8) but plan to go up again next week (September 15). I hit a best of 14.018 last time, and am dying to drop it into the 13s.

That.ll be our little secret ...right...question for ya ...whose SRT8 did you kill on your 8:39 pm run last friday
JSRT8
09-06-2006, 10:36 PM
That was my SRT, kill, I ran a 13.95 that run. I was sleeping at the light. Trevor, your car does haul ass. I couldn't do better than a 2.3 60' all night. My car had 800km on it, it was like a virgin, to tight and didn't know how to perform well.
Trevor
09-07-2006, 06:58 AM
JSRT8 is 100% correct - the reaction time contributed to this kill, and I'm not fooling myself into thinking it'll be a regular occurance - but I'll take it where I can get it!
By the way, my R/T woke up considerably after I'd had a chance to come on to it for a few weeks in a row - I'm sure yours will do the same. Make sure you pit so I can get some drool time in on your wheels next time you're up.
Buckola
09-07-2006, 07:04 AM
Glad you came forward JSRT8 !!! I guess Trevors going to have to issue a "Correction Notice" lol. Gotto admit...that R/T goes like a sumbich
JSRt8 , My times have'nt been much better. But I have traction issues. Hopefully once I get that resolved I'll be in the mid 13's
JSRT8
09-07-2006, 04:46 PM
Traction issues? I could hardly get my tires to spin:confused: Are you power braking? I did 1 run while power braking at 2300 rpm and lit them up, I ran a 16.3 that run, blah. Do you have any mods? Any info will be helpful.
I will have traction issues in the spring when I put the supercharger on it. I'm waiting for ATI to release their kit.
Buckola
09-07-2006, 06:31 PM
No mods and only power braking to keep me in place. Maybe 1000 / 1500 max. If I roll on too hard I break loose until the it shifts to second then of course bogs till the revs come up. When it hooks up ...its a rocket. I believe other posts that boast low 13''s high 12's. I hav'nt reduced rear tire pressure yet but will tomorow. I feel it will help. Stupid question...are you sure you are fully disabling your esp? I see no reason why you arnt having traction issues as well.
Will you be heading down tomorow nite?

haha, yea I know, I should, but he probly has to work. I'm going to see if my brother wants to go with his hemi truck, he's got a K&N CAI, Jet Chip modual, and 3" exuhast from the headers back. They firgure around 400hp at the fly he's looking at now. He wants to put a SC on next summer. Not sure if he will or not tho yet. This winter were going to get our dad to start doing work on the viper, like exhaust, CAI, and other engie work to get it to like 600HP or so to start. He's talked bout doing it, but with him, he always needs to think bout getting or doing things for like 6 months to a year before he does it.

The track manager told me they.ll keep it open till November ...weather permitting. They've not had a stellar year with all the rain.
Ditto on the 2 runs per night problem. They couldnt be bothered to clean up the spilled antifreeze so just kept one lane opened.

Ya congratz agian Trevor, that was an amazing run. yea i got what i was hoping to get for my 2nd time(under14.5) to the track which was 14.468@97.19mph on the frist run and then 14.484@98.18mph. I probably could have done better on my 2nd run but the lights went really fast, so i kinda messed up abit. Both were good runs for me so far, and yes being able to get only 2 runs in did suck alot. I'm definatly planning to go again before the season is done. My K&N CAI should be coming in tomorrow lol So we'll see how that helps, that and the cold weather. Wont be able to get 13.9's tho like Trevor, that is just crazy for a stock Charger R/T. Anyone know of any other stock chargers running 13's?

Wont be able to get 13.9's tho like Trevor, that is just crazy for a stock Charger R/T. Anyone know of any other stock chargers running 13's?
oh hey Trevor i was thinking that you should get your car dyno'd some time. See if you got like a special motor from the factory lol. I wat to get mine done some time too.
Thanks dude - your 1/4 improvements were pretty good too! I can't wait to see your new CAI (so I can copy it on the cheap) :) and I would be all over getting a dyno done locally as long as it was reasonably priced. I'm REALLY curious to see what kind of numbers this powerplant's putting out.

Congrats on that run Trevor...It was incredidble!!! Didnt Charger RT break some new ground as well?
The track manager told me they.ll keep it open till November ...weather permitting. They've not had a stellar year with all the rain.
Ditto on the 2 runs per night problem. They couldnt be bothered to clean up the spilled antifreeze so just kept one lane opened.
Let me know your next trip down. I'm free exept for the last weekend in October...National Sales Meeting...WhooHoooo!!!
Thanks Steve. Hey, I'm wondering what lane that girl who died was running in when she crashed her jet car on Sunday...
...I would be curious to see if it was the left. That really put a damper on my elation when I heard about it on the radio this morning.

oh really someone died on sunday...i wonder if it had anything to do with that spill from friday night that they closed down the left lane from.
i'm going to go to pick up my CAI right now then install it, so i'll try to remeber to post pics of it when it's done.

Teen racer killed
17-year-old girl's dragster crashes into wall at more than 480km/h on Hamilton-area track
By KIM BRADLEY, TORONTO SUN
A teen drag racer died yesterday at the Toronto Motorsport Park track after she hit a wall in her jet-propelled dragster at more than 480 km/h.
Not only was 17-year-old Kendall Hebert's death witnessed by horrified spectators including members of her family, but the event was "carried live on the Internet," OPP spokesman Const. Mark Foster said.
"She was not competing today, she was performing for the crowd," Foster said from the park in Cayuga, south of Hamilton.
Hebert was one of several members of the Gladiator Racing Team and was on her way to becoming a competitive racer once she turned 18, Foster said.
"She was up-and-coming in the racing scene," he said.
Hebert had just completed a quarter-mile run down the straight track at speeds in excess of 480 km/h yesterday at 3:20 p.m. when, "for unknown reasons, she hit the wall," Foster said.
Hebert's jet-powered dragster flew over the track's concrete barrier and rolled several times, throwing the teen clear.
According to Hebert's biography on the Gladiator Racing team web site, Hebert had just signed a three-year deal to drive the team's Firestorm car, which she had taken to speeds in excess of 482 km/h.
The site also says the teen, who is from Tecumseh in the Windsor area, "comes from a racing family. Kendall's father, Ken, races a Pro-Modified Volkswagen Beetle and her sister Shelby races a Junior dragster."
When she was just 3 years old, her father modified her Barbie Jeep, making it travel at 40 km/h, the site says.
Hebert was also a good student and enjoyed playing on her high school volleyball, field hockey, rugby and basketball teams.
Members of the Gladiator Racing Team could not be reached last night, but staff at the track were gathered together to mourn the teen.
"We're a family, we're all in shock," said a member of the track's staff who gave her name only as Cindy.
"Our thoughts are with her family."

Wow, that crazy.
I'm done the install and took it for a test drive and all i can say is ....WOW! There for one is a big difference on exhaust note, specials after 3000-3500rpm on acceleration. It's looks better, and i guess we'll have to see till i take it to the track if it's helped, which im sure it's going to. An now i got the cool whistle noise when you give it gas on acceleration. Here are some pics:

That looks great!!
How long did the install take you and where did you get it?
Do you have to pull any fuses for the computer re-calibrate?

Thanks. I got it from Automotive Warehouse in Niagara on the lake, it is a 2 minute drive from Niagara College where I am attending. It was around hour and a half from start to finish w/o rushing and texting my G/F too. I didn't pull any fuse, or disconnect the battery. No codes or anything came up when I went for a 20 minute test drive. It went faster then I thought it would. I am definatly glad i did it, looks much better and as I said before the exhuast sounds much more alive through-out the power band.

480 kmh, that's surreal. Thanks for posting the story, I was looking for it earlier. 17 yrs old, she was half my age and traveled twice as fast. Best wishes to her family.
Has anyone heard if the track is going to be open this weekend? If so, I'm there.

As far as I know I think it will still be open. Unless they for some reason are still doing some investigation as to what exactly happened. Would be sweet to see a Jeep SRT8 running at the track. Let me know if anyone finds out more info. I might be going then this week agian lol Got to see how much the K&N CAI helps in 1/4 mile times.

The track web site says they will be open for Friday Test and Tune. They also have a nice "In Memory of Kendall Herbert" on the front page.
See you there.

Sorry, I have a CHSRT 8. I never thought about the fact that the short form of Jeep Srt8 is JSRT 8 when I chose my user name. I can see why you thought that.
Steve, I just set-up an account for bulk purchasing Nitrous, this may be my last somewhat stock run(I have a K&N CAI). My car now has 4000km on it and it definately feels quicker, I'll finally have a good baseline. Only TIME will tell.
See you there,
Jeff

Trevors Wife and Trevor are heading up this Friday too! We'll be leaving as close to 6:30 as possible, and should be there for tech by 7:15. Can't wait to see the new CAI install.
There's a big SpoCo tuner event on Saturday, so there should be lots of road-rice around to fry up. Bwuaa haa ha... ...hopefully they don't clog up the track.

The realisation has just set in that last week was probably the last " Friday Fast and Furious" that I will be able to attend this year (unless the weather improves). I'll have to wait 7 long months before...
:Race day poems by Trevor or Trevors Wife
:13 second runs by certain R/T's ( you bastards know who you are )
: Track Fries
:New friends from north and south of the border.
:The smell of racing fuel, burning rubber and burning track fries
: The good natured tech inspector ( fail, fail, fail, fail)
: Stopping at Tims for a large regular
: Bench racing in the staging lane with Mustang , Camaro and other other car buffs.
: watching dirt bikes, snowmobiles, atv's and of course those certain Chargers:clap:  thrash the sh*t out of their machines for the shear fun of it.;)
God i'm gonna miss Fridays:cry:
