Does anyone use a orbital polisher? I am using Zaino and I hear they do not recommend it...why? ANyone ever used anything besides Zaino and Meguire's line of products. I have a car that sits outside 24/7...I need serious quality here but I want results! help

I use Liquid Glass to wax and follow with Zaino Z-6 & Z-8 as recommended by Arfur....

Porter Cable makes a nice set. Zaino states that build-up on the pads happens rather quickly and if you don't change the pads often, the build-up can actually scratch the paint, especially with darker paint colors. Just be careful, especailly on corners and angles, you can burn the paint, especially with a professional buffer.

I think Zaino also has a problem adhering with the kind of heat a buffer can generate. I use the Z-2 by hand with no problems. 3 coats so far and she looks like a black mirror.

but your arms are dead and an entire day is gone.

I've used Meguire's Deep Crystal with a Ryobi orbital polisher. It worked great for steps 1 and 2. However, it did something to the wax on Step 3 that hardened it and made it extremely difficult to take off. I could explain it in terms of polymeric modeling, but I doubt anyone here would be interested.

It appears to be a function of the detailing products you are using. Just try each one on a small area first before covering the whole car.

sorry... no.

Zaino goes on so thin, that I can get a whole coat on the car done in 15 min... let it dry for an hour, 5 min to buff down. If I want to repeat, its another 15 + 60 + 5. The only time I put 3 coats on was the first time. I'm going to stick to one coat every 3-4 months.

Take a looksie around Autopia.org

I have a Porter-Cable and some Sonus SFX pads. I use Optimum Polish and Klasse sealants.

Sorry, yes, if you are doing a multi-step procedure. Cleaner, polish, wax. Of course the car needs to be washed first. Twice, if possible. And then, while you're at it, detail the black accents and clean the glass. Then pass out on the couch with a cold one.

no no no...

When I got the car:

1. I washed it
2. I used a clay bar
3. I waxed with Zaino, 3 coats to build the finish

The wash is normal, right? The clay bar should be done regardless of what polish/wax you use if you want a smooth finish. I don't plan on using the clay bar everytime I wash, only when I start feeling grit on the car. And the 3 coats of Zaino is a one-time thing. Going forward, all I'll do it wash it, and maybe use some detailing spray if I want a deep shine that day.

Sorry to ruin your day, but Zaino is no more intensive than any other product once you get a few coats on the first time. And IMHO its a miniscule price to pay to get such a good finish.

Oh my, how you did ruin my day.
No one said anything about how Zaino was more intensive than anything else.
