The paint under the moldings is alot lighter than the rest of the car. You can tell exactly where the moldings were from the lighter strips of paint running horizontally down each side of the car. This was on each door. Cleaning, then waxing did nothing to match the color up

I am sure that this isn't a warranty item, ( have less than 600 miles on the car) and I am not going to get each door painted to match the rest of the car.

Can you reattach the moldings after taking them off? Or do you have to buy new ones?

Anyone else had this problem?

I tihnk you need some new silicone goopy stuff or whatever it is that keeps those moldings on. I couldnt see why you couldnt put them back on...provided they are still in "straight" condition...give it a try!

When I took mine off, I didnt have a problem at all. I had the lines from the moldings on, but when I waxed and buffed the doors, the lines were mostly gone, but couldnt see them really unless you got a real good look. After some more washes, they went away. Did you wax it by hand?

Yes by hand. It really isn't the lines from the molding more so it is the paint under the molding being lighter than the rest of the door. Don't see how detailing with my buffer is going to make the paint blend:(

lighter? should be darker. try washing your car better. or maybe strip the wax from the whole car and rewax the entire thing. dawn dish soap will strip the old wax without harming the paint, works like a champ.

When I debadged the trunk area I ran into similar problems. It's all good now though, after a quick wax and wash. Do you think you can post pics of your problem when you get a chance please? Later

Alright, just finished a complete detail of the car, including washing with dawn, claying, rewashing, and buffing. The lighter marks are still there, although not as noticable as before, but still noticable neither the less.

The paint was lighter underneath the moldings, not darker, as mentioned earlier.

I have it parked in the sun. Not sure what good that will do, but I will give it a try. The car would look better without the moldings, IF the paint would match.

I tried taking a picture of it, but it didn't show it very well. I will try another pic later.

I am really disappointed in this "MOD"
