Any chance on getting a GB for the hood struts together?
I know there are a lot of new guys/gals on this forum that haven't done this mod. (and at least one old head that hasn'y:( )
How many people do we need and what would be the price including shipping?
Thanks in advance. I chose to put this in the MPSC section because I really like the way they handled my last order to them.
33 People so far. This is awesome. Thanks for the participation guys - this helps a lot in getting a GB for next time.

We have the cost of this down about as low as we can go. How about if we can get 10 or more orders we will ship the kits for free? Let me know what you think.

The price for this is $49.92, and with the 10 orders, FREE SHIPPING is included. This is a great mod that almost anyone can do with just minor tools. It is so much easier to clean or service your engine compartment without having to work around that ugly front prop rod to hold your hoodup. It amazes us that this was deleted from the factory.

I sent Ted an email asking him to review the invoice number.
The order confirmation does say
"The total amount to be charged is $59.82 (This is not automatically billed, we will verify pricing, shipping before your order is invoiced.)
NOTICE:
Shipping charges are just an estimated amount, these will be reveiwed once your order is processed. If there is a difference in the actual shipping charges, you will be informed before your order is charged and shipped."

The kit you ordered does come with two gas struts, and the pivot bolts. Both kits listed actually are the same kit, one is for free shipping, and the other charges shipping. Jeff created the second kit with free shipping for this group purchase, then he will deactivate it when we close the group buy.

Dang that was quick! Ordered on the 13th and received today! Thanks MPSC!
Only have one problem, but don't think its MPSC's fault- no install instructions came with them. Guess I'll just search the forum for some. Coulda sworn I saw someone post them once.
Anyhow- MPSC is a DEFINITE "do business with again" vendor in my book. Fastest shipping I've seen in a long time. And I like the enclosed letter that urges Internet Customers to provide feedback on the forum so they know their good points and shortcomings (and this is definetly a good point- shows they care about customer service when they're willing to have it displayed on an open forum).

Walked in the door today, BAM, the struts are here!!
install precedure:
1) Installied studs with a 1/2 deep well socket, did not need tap, the studs self started with no problem.
2) Popped the retaining clips off of the top strut with small flat blade screw driver by sliding blade into slot that was made for this purpose.
3. Slid open the plastic retaining on the bottom of the strut, and placed strut
on ball of stud and closed plastic retainer. Note: keep flat plastic retaing clip facing forward
4. Slide top of strut on ball (hood) and reinstalled metal retaining clips
Final: Stand back and enjoy
ADDED STEP: Thank MOPAR SuperCenter for the great parts at a great price !

Just think, now all of you that bought these, when the struts start to wear out, you still have a prop rod to hold the hood up until you get your replacements in. The people whos vehicles that came with the struts don't have that option. Now you all are one up on them!

Quick question - How long does it take before the "struts start to wear out?"

08-17-2006, 11:44 AM
hmmm, good question!
It is not measurable, could be 100,000 hood openings, a couple years, or even sooner. Climate has some effects on the life span of these as well. I would guess a safe assumption of at least 1 year, I say that because with your receipt, you have a 1 year warranty against defects. I would say that if the hood strut fails to hold the hood open before one year, we could do a replacement warranty on them.

5 Days and 23 hours after reading this thread for the first time, I've placed my order, received it, and installed the props.
My hats off to Mopar Super Center, Jeff and company. You made my first purchase and self applied mod a total breeze. You're first on my list for any future considerations.
Install took me 7 minutes, from the time I opened the Fex Ex box.
Side note: The anchor studs are self tapping, so I applied two drops of oil to each before screwing them into place. It was litterally plug and run. And it looks gooooood...
Bye, bye, prop rod.

We are extremely sorry for this, this is one of the problems we have with our current systems. We currently use 3 different computer systems, the web site, our in house system, and another system for shipping. Our problem here is that the customer keys in one the information, we must then key the information to our inhouse system, and when we ship, we manually key this information into our shipping system. All this manual work causes some to not pay as close attention to details as they should. Then we end up with the shipments going to the address that the customer did not want. This is being addressed, our new web site will have the shipping integrated into it, and will pull exactly what the customer keys in for their information. There for it will negate the human error on our part, and should correct these types of errors from happening again.
If you prefer not to drive 3 hours away, we can send you out another kit, and send a call tag for the incorrect shipping location. Just let us know.
Again, sorry for the mistake.:(

Well, FedEx will not deliver to a PO box, so don't go there looking for it. On your shipping notice, there should be a tracking number. Enter that tracking number into FedEx to make sure it is coming to the right address. If you still have doubts, call us so we can verify the shipping address we sent it to. Another flaw with our current system, once a customer enters their data, we can't change it. So when we send out the shipping notices, it displays the information the customer entered. Another thing we will be addressing with our new site, just for the cases where a customer entered false data by accident.
We are taking steps to make our processes better, when you see a flaw in our system, please let us know. Your comments, suggestions are very welcome, as we want all of our customers to have a pleasurable experience when they deal with us.

Right now there is not a promotion available for us to use to lower the price. I will check again the 1st of Nov. to see if one becomes available for us to offer a group buy. With the the current pricing on these thru Mopar and Fedex fuel surcharge we can't offer a lower price than we have right now.

Sorry
FYI. The ball studs I got required a 13MM socket not 1/2. Metric. Go figure? Thanks for the instructions and pics.
Also, apparently the struts are getting harder to find. My dealer is having a difficult time locating one for the right side. According to him, the parts are no longer being made. That's what he said. He found a right side at another local dealer so I might have it this afternoon so I can do the install.Walked in the door today, BAM, the struts are here!!
