Sept 9th - Laps for Charity @ TMS

Ok, I made a new thread to keep from confusing people, since the old thread was started for the May Laps for Charity.

This get together (GTG) will be on September 9th at Texas Motor Speedway. It is shaping up to be a combined GTG for Dodge Truck World (DTW), Dodge Talk (DT), Charger Forums (CF), and Cowtown Mopar Performance Team (CMPT). Between the 4 groups we are anticipating 40+ vehicles.

CMPT is looking at bringing it's grill trailer and will have Dogs, burgers, sodas, etc. We are asking a $3 for people who are not CMPT members. I am verifying the meeting time and location, but most likely it will be in one of the main south parking lots starting around 4pm. CMPT is doing this as it's Saturday cruise night. Please let me know if you are interested in food, or just hanging out, so we know how much food to buy.

I'll try to be there. I wanted to go in May, but my kids' schedule did not work out. I will probably have to bring all three with me, but they like cars...

As it gets closer, I'll confirm. If Soccer has started, all bets are off...

Shoot! Even if it a Simpson Racing car seat... Since I'll probably have the baby, I'll have
to make sure they can go before I drive out. I have called them before and I don't remember
them saying that the baby couldn't come. But I may not have mentioned the car seat thing
to them, just that I wanted to bring my boys...

Damn, that sucks. Kind of hard for me to sell this as a family thing now. :(

Maybe I'm wrong, but I could have sworn that at the last event someones wife stayed on the sidelines with their toddler.

Maybe it was because of the stroller being in the bed?? I dunno...But I can find out.

According to the Charity, Children must be at least 6 years old to ride out on the track.

I don't understand that, because it doesn't matter if you're 2 or 20, it's the same vehicle at the same speed, with the same (minor) potential for catastrophe.

Sorry guys..but those are the rules...

The event does not START until 5pm. So our picnic plans to start at 4 is a good idea. That'll give people time to arrive, time to eat, and relax. I can email our contact with specific times if any group knows when they want to have thier laps.

They will stop the cars, pull you off the track, and ban you from future events.

You are not allowed to pass ANY vehicles except he spotter trucks, which ride high near the wall anyway.

Official start time for GTG is 4pm, south lot directly outside the pit entrance.

We are scheduled to enter the pits as a group and stage in lanes designated for us. Stage time is 6pm.

Anyone who wants to run additional laps can restage in our designated lanes so we may continue to run as a group.

We will probably hang out in the pit area after the laps. We've done it in the past and they never say anything.

I will be there just before 4pm, as will Kelly (with smoker) and probably Ryan from DTW..you can't miss his big RAM and DODGE flags.

Bad news for me..My car has acquired a lifter noise. If I can't get it fixed by Saturday then I'll bring my Ram, but won't be running. Instead I'll concetrate on good videos and pics of everyone else. Since they will block the roads and let us enter as a group, that would be a perfect opp to video the entire group as it enters.

I will have to bring the truck (sniff sniff). I have found the Dart has suffered SPS (soft pushrod syndrome). It will be out of commission until I can get a set of rods. Being I have a sizeable bump stick I need custom length rods, which might take a while to get.:knockout:

At least I found it before it became a problem.

But, I will have the camcorder, and I plan on getting lots of good video.

Dude - seriously - meeting this Sunday!!! Wicked - I mightb be up for that. Have you got any details on where we go etc? I can get to the Stockyards via University Drive IIRC - so I should be able to get to the general area!!! Glad you reminded me!!
