Just picked up my new Inferno Red SXT yesterday!
Anyone know a place to get window tinting done at a good price?
I'm in Burlington, ON . . . work in Mississauga . . .

I got the dealership to do mine, think the cost was 225$, but i made them throw it in...if your spending 40K$+, they can throw in 200$ window tinting :P

Yeah, it was hard to get the dealer to through anything in . . . saying that I was already getting my dad's employee discount (on top of the Canadian wide employee discount sale). I tried for a spoiler . . . didn't get it!

Whatever you do, make sure they don't use a metallic tint: it cuts down AM radio reception (antenna is in the rear window). Some report that it also affects NAV reception if you have navigation; others say it shouldn't but I'd hate to find out otherwise.

Ceramic tint is a bit more expensive but much higher quality and doesn't affect radio reception.

I talked to alot of dealerships previous to buying my car, and they all said that the discount from the "employee pricing" sale they had, with the cash on delivery is actually a better deal than a Chrysler employee would get.

That being said.. Its Chrysler Canada that is giving you the deal, not the dealership. You need to play the dealerships against each other a bit, and see who can and who cant give you that little bonus :)

I got the dealer to throw in my tint, and im glad i did, because all they had planned on giving me for my 42k$ purchase, was 2 HEMI logo hats :P (at least give me a bomber jacket or something >< )

The best thing to do is look in your yellow pages (I'm not being sarcastic) and call everyone that does tinting in there. Ask if they use "Solar Guard". Solar guard works like ceramic in reducing the heat but is cheaper, lasts longer, reduces more heat (by a point or two) and has a lifetime warranty with any dealer throughout the states... and they are everywhere! I did and I was very happy!

Just got the tinting done this morning . . . 35% on sides/17% on rear window.

Got it done at Ziebart (many loactions across North America) . . . my brother highly recommended them. He had his '93 Dodge Shadow done (in '93) and had no problems in the 12 years he owned the car.

I got mine done at ziebart on the 11th. Just getting the tint done adds so much to the look of the car.

The only thing I can add to this conversation is that I also had dealer-installed (by a 3rd party, I'm sure) tint. Even though it was expensive ($300) it's now covered under my extended warranty.

I had the dealer throw tint on as part of our deal, however, the dealer sent my car to Apple Auto Glass to do the tint job. It looks perfect. This was in Hamilton.

I've used Ziebart in the past and they do good work as well.

Sounds like nobody has done the ceramic tint ???

I'm going to start looking this week hopefully and will report. Drivers-side rear window isn't going down so a dealership visit has to happen first.

I've made an appointment to apply ceramic tint on Friday. It was not easy to find locations that offered it, in fact a lot of big name dealers hadn't heard of ceramic. I was even told by one rep that I was being fed a line and that there was no such thing !

I could only find two dealers in the Toronto area and both were North-East of the city. Details to come.

I'm going to try and get some pics. With the tint applied it's time to show off my bright silver toy :D

The nav antenna is mounted under the dash just behind the steering wheel , so unless you tinted the front window I would not worry about this

My Super Bee had tint installed when I bought the car. Unfortunaltlty I didn't notice it had bubbled in some spots when I picked up the car. When I noticed the problem and took the car back in, the dealer informed me its not under warranty as a dealer installed option, and since the car was brought in to this dealership for me from another, there was no help. Should I be pushing this dealer for a little support? Is it expensive to have removed and reapplied?

i just did mine 35% on the 5 windows and 54% on the windshield the whole windshield. Cops can't even tell if the sun roof is open, close it and ya can't see anything. Sure changed the look of the car, had to do the tail lights when i got home, thats another awesome addition and cheap. The window tint was free, best deal ever. My nav system works fine with the tint.

do not use solar guard- it wont last a year-i threw them out of my shops-they are having a big problem with the film delamanating-use lummar it is the best-and as far as metal film beins a problem with the navi-thats not true-the nav ant is under the dash at the front under the windsheild and unless you tint the hole windsheild you will have no problems and as the radio-yes metal tint will interfear with the am singal but the fm will be ok- now as far as ceramic tint-down here in fla that film has shown not to hold up past a year either-and ceramic film is a metal film also-they just take the oxygen out of the metal before they bond it to the film- the new hot window tint is full carbon on milar- but it's really super expensive. for llumar atr metal films i get $160 to $180 a car and it last about 7 to 10 years-now the new carbom films i'm getting $300 a car but this film cutts the heat by at least 70% threw the glass.

I did my last tint job at an Apple Autoglass in Kitchener on King/Weber. It was the best price I found, and they used ONYX tint (best stuff IMO) very nicely installed too.

When I had my R/T, I had metallic window tinting put in. It looked great....BUT, AM reception was definitely affected. Didn't really care. Didn't seem to affect the NAV. Just my 3.5 cents.
