I've spotted a few Montrealers on here, and some folks from the vicinity.

Anyone recommend a dealership to stay away from, when it comes to service? So far my Daytona ownership experience has been top notch, and I don't want it stained with a bad service experience.

I gotta admit the sales experience at Longue Pointe was outstanding. No idea what to expect from the service department, though.

TripleTransAm,

I will get my Zoomer Exhaust installed next week from Longue Pointe, we will see what job they will do.

For my regular maintenance I went to the Dealer in Vaudreuil, am I happy...not sure.......for the next time I will change to the Guy's in Lachine and see how they are!

I had an alignment verification done at Longue Pointe, as well as an oil change the week before. In both cases, I was treated VERY politely by both the oil change rep and the service rep, and the alignment technician was very helpful in discussing some of the results. In this latter case, the technician appeared to be fairly experienced but from the moment I showed signs of "speaking the lingo", he cut the layman's terms and stuck to the technical terms without a hint of ego or condescension. What a breath of fresh air: an experienced technician who doesn't feel he has to talk down to a customer in order to maintain his feeling of supremacy!

I haven't had this kind of a discussion with a technician since my original Pontiac dealer where I'd have my first 2 T/As serviced! (okay, there was that one Ford technician who was great as well, but he quit mechanics altogether).

I was so impressed by the treatment, I immediately called the manager of the Service Department to specifically comment on the two technicians I dealt with, and ask that this positive feedback be used in any future performance evaluations.

So far, I have no reason to think twice before taking my car to Longue Pointe. Let's hope it continues this way.

When is your car scheduled for the exhaust work? Would be cool if I could drop by...

No idea who your service advisor is going to be, but I got the "new guy" who sits in the second booth from the outside door. I made the poor guy run around by peppering him with question on my aftermarket remote starter (hey, they install it, they're responsible for it) and the guy took it like a man. If you get this guy, it wouldn't hurt to associate yourself with me and my feedback... we might just get some preferential treatment from it. Who knows.

Otherwise, if you're happy with the service you get, it wouldn't hurt to express this to the overall service manager... he seems very receptive to feedback. I even went so far as to suggest setting up high speed internet to allow business customers to surf... er, continue working while their vehicles are being serviced... hope it's happened by now.

Dealer technicians are people. So when things go right, I make the effort to make this known to the management... if anything, hopefully this makes the technicians' lives a little easier. Hopefully, you'll get the same (or even better) treatment with your exhaust work tomorrow.

One more thing... I hope their exhaust guy is good, but it's probably going to be on the expensive side, being a dealer. I know this place in Vimont Laval (a GMS) where all it will take is to say you know me (Steve with the black Trans Ams) and you should be very well taken care of, both in quality and price. They did the custom manifold-back true-dual-with-H-pipe into-the-original-twin-outlet exhaust on my '78 last year... super clean job, complete with hand-made H-pipe.

my contact tomorrow will be Stephan or Steven or .......

they are actually in contact with Zoomers and therfore they should know what they do!!!!!!! hopefully

the reason I go to a Dealer is that I will be able to point a finger when something goes wrong with the Exhaust

let's see

Sounds like the same guy.

Anyway, it's definitely a good idea to cover yourself with having the dealer do the exhaust, as long as they very clearly specify (hopefully in black and white and in whatever font they prefer) that it would not invalidate the exhaust warranty. I've heard of situations where dealers have installed aftermarket equipment but this detail became irrelevant once a catalytic converter failed (even if we all know there wasn't any way the exhaust install would have damaged the cat). Their argument: the exhaust was tampered with at the customer's request, so regardless of who did it, the customer was responsible. I guess the dealer ceased to be a direct arm of the factory at this point.

Hope you get that clarified.
