Well, driving back to work from lunch today, I turned right in front of a black Trailblazer SS that was waiting to go straight at the light. I noticed it because I really like them and I don't see that many around here yet. I din't really think anything of it and just kept driving. Low and behold I notice that not too long after I turned right the trailblazer was closing in on me, and all I could think to myself was..."man that's a nice truck!" We had to merge down into one lane, I was behind a semi-truck and the Trailblazer was behind me. As soon as the road opens back up to 3 lanes though I pulled into the left lane and I noticed he pulled into the right. I heard him floor it (sounded nice) and see him take off in the corner of my eye. I did the same but had to slow down because some people were turning left in front of me. He merged onto the highway, and I said ah screw it. I gun it and get to about 85-90 (no one in front of me) and I notice he slowed down some, so I slowed down too thinking nothing was going to happen. As I passed him on the left doing about 60 now, I hear him gun it again. I again followed lead and the race was on. At first I couldn't see him in any of my mirrors (because he was right in my blind spot), but as the MPH climbed I noticed him in my right side view mirror and then in my rear view mirror, slowly falling behind. By 85-90 MPH I had 2-3 car lengths on him and that's when I let off.

I got into the right lane, as my exit was next and slowed down so that he could get beside me. I rolled down my window, and when he pulled up next to me, I gave him a thumbs up and mouthed "Nice Car!". He gave me a wave too, but I could tell he wanted to run some more. As I pulled into the exit lane, I hear him gun it again, I look over give him another wave, he does the same and speeds off.

Man those trailblazers are nice! I was strongly considering one not too long before I started looking into the charger, and honestly I still wouldn't mind having one. I can't really call this a kill, because it was just a 30 MPH jaunt (60-90) and we only ran it one time. I did pull on him and think that I would have won if we ran multiple times, but I can't confirm that. I don't know what they are running at the track and I don't know what I am running at the track yet, but it was a fun little race never the less.

Man, I've got to get this thing out to the track!

Wow! Sweet. I'd love to have seen that race! Those trucks are badass indeed. Good job buddy, keep it up, and be safe. ;)

...be safe. ;)

Trust me I do what I can. I usually only race at the track, but seeing as the highway was more or less empty and I really wanted to see one of these trucks run, I just couldn't help myself. :D

Car and Driver Mag. did a article in their March '06 issue on the '06 Chevy Trialblazer SS, and stated 390 HP, 0-60 in 5.5 sec. The SS was compared against '06 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 8 with 420 HP, 0-60 in 4.5 sec.

wow thats a better time than my Charger SRT 8

If anyone is in the market for an SUV (and hates gas mileage) you should really look into these Tb SS's. GM has them for super cheap now, and they're discontinuing them in a year or so.

I'm surprised you took him by that much, actually. The numbers I've seen on them seem to line up just about exactly to a Charger R/T. Good job. :)

That definately makes a huge difference. It's amazing what traction will do for your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times :D

Nice run. That would be a kill from a roll. Just shows where the advantage of the AWD is - the launch. But the weight and drag is a disadvantage on the Hwy....

Yeah, I really like the SS'es, but they're discounting them? Damn, the cost just a little more than getting the TB 4.2L, and they have alot more pickup. Like you said the numbers almost lineup exactly to an R/T.

Also, about the gas mileage, my wife drives our 2005 TB, and our 4.2L gets 12 mpg city, and 18 highway MPG... pretty powerful engine, but an absolute dog on gas mileage. I've talked to others with the same engine and most also get much worse than advertised gas mileage. It's so bad I think the 6.0L gets almost identical numbers to the 4.2L in real world driving.

You can order them 2wd or awd...I think C&D tested a 2wd, the awd version is a little slower as any extra traction is offset by the additional weight...
