On my way to work this morning I was behind a Tundra towing an old Ford pickup bed as a trailer. At one point a small open bag of concrete flys out of this crappy trailer and hits the front of my car. I tried to get him to pull over but he ignored me. I got his plate number so that I could call it in if there was damage. To my suprise, there does not seem to be a lot. There is a big dust stain on the drivers side front at the fog light. It looks like there may be small scratches but I cannot tell until its clean. I am debating on reporting this...............

Report his azz!!!

It's jerks like him that make it so hard to keep a car nice and acutally drive it around. He should have secured his load so that kinda crap can't happen! In fact I'm pretty sure it's a law!! It's the same as those idiots who drive the big construction equipment on the back of the trailers. They couldn't possibly take an extra 30 minutets to clean the mud out of the tracks and sweep down the trailer! No, it's much easier to just take off down the road and let all the clumps of dirt and ROCKS vibrate loose and pelt the traffic behind you!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! :fuming: :fuming: :fuming: :fuming:

Can you tell that's kind of a sensitive subject for me!

Report it anyway, and have your car checked out professionally. A visual inspection won't do.

This is exactly why I stay the F away from pickups, unless their beds are empty.

I knew there was a reason why I left late this morning ... Were you in VA or WV?

Just past 287 on RT9. Pulled up next to the guy and tried to wave him over on 7 and he just stared at me blankly!

It can't hurt you to report it, because if you do find something wrong, and you did report it, you can take futher action if necessary. If you don't file a report, and you find something wrong, then you could be screwed.

Even IF there was nothing wrong with your car, he still is responsible for leaving his shlt on the road and disrupting things. I think if it were me, I'd've stopped and dialed the police right where it happened.

heh heh, there is no room to do that. No place to pull over. My wife and I actually got in an accident in the same exact area a few years ago. The car in front of us stopped to let deer cross and an explorer rear ended us. Its a very dangerous road.

Don't know if the law has changed, but a couple years ago my car was hit on 7 in VA with a brass headboard that came out of the back of a pickup. Ripped up the front end pretty bad, it took 2 guys to get the thing off the road. The police finally show up, and said they could not write her a ticket because the law about securing loads only applied to commercial vehicles. I did get her insurance company to pay for the damage.

We were almost hit by a washing machine on RT 7 just before the toll road going west a few years ago. Flew out of a truck in front of us and jumped into the next lane just as we would have hit it! Scared the crap out of us but it went between us and another car to cause no harm. If it had been a weekday it would have been bad.

Finally talked to a cop. Apparently they wont even write a report if the damage is less then $1k!!! How stupid is that??

Yeah, they want to set a time to look at it but if its just small scratches they wont file a report. Now the cops are doing estimates..........

I've seen some bizzare things on Rt 7, like the time a semi full of live turkeys overturned in Leesburg and the State Troopers were standing on the sides of the road, guns drawn, trying to keep the turkey's off the road. I think that was the same week the pigs were loose on the Beltway.

When was that? Must have been before my time in this area.

I'm thinking it was early 90's - I was living in Purcellville and my boss did not believe I was stuck in traffic due to turkeys. I had to take the newspaper in to work the next day.

I was driving on I-75 in Detroit when a bumper (the molded type) flew out the back of a junk truck and struck my bumper tearing out the foglight.

Trying to explain to the insurance company that "Yes I was hit by a bumper" and no I did not get the license plate # because it did not have one" The just could not fathom being hit by a bumper that did not have the rest of the car with it.
The finally got it figured out, and payed up no problem but looking back it did sound pretty funny!.

The entire reason why my wife got a Charger was due to some dude from CA rear ending her in Newport News, VA. We was stopped at the time! the police showed up and he figured it would be under 1K and no report.
I ended up costing 989 or something like that.
(if the guy was going faster...it woulda' been UGLY)
The guys INS. Company did pay in full and the car was repaired, and traded in!

That cements my opinion that it is better to pass these vehicles if possible.

I live on a main road, and the latest horrible thing that has fallen out of a pickup, is two full size truck rims without tires Sunday morning.
The guy didn't think they would slide, so he didn't close the tailgate.
I laid into him and told him he was lucky that there wasn't a motorcycle behind him.
These people don't need to be on the road.
