I think Sears sells the poprivit gun you need. Bring a rivit with you for the right size of the rivit shank.

Sears does not have the rivet gun for plastic rivets.Napa Auto has one for about $24.00.

i made the mistake of removing my entire front bumper assembly using a flat head screw driver and a lot of elbow grease. took a LONG time. if someone can name a tool to remove these rivets, i would def be interested.

Two options to follow...

The dealership has the rivet gun. Ask to borrow it and install in their lot. I have heard of guys that did it this way. Bring a box of doughnuts with you.

Visit your nearest body shop and talk to the guys about costomizing your ride. Bring up that you have these parts to install and ask if they can help you out by borrowing their rivet gun. That's what I did. I bought tape, drill, and a blanket to lay on. Offer to buy one of the body guy lunch. It really works.

That one from Summit looks like a regular metal rivit gun

Probably not the same as for the plastic

Can you go into any more detail about what is involved in installing the rear air diffuser? I want to get one for my daytona, just concerned about the install. Just ordered mine and will be here tomorrow. Just curious about how much work I'm in for.

Obviously i havent installed mine yet, but from the directions it comes with, you will need one of those rivet guns. The diffuser comes with the rivets and i think you will need a 1/4in drill bit to make the holes. Just tape the diffuser into place to hold it and make your holes. Then use the rivets to secure it.

does not look hard at all. am i right here? can someone confirim this?

It's not hard at all, and I didn't use a rivet tool. I just held a small box end wrench against the rivet and pulled the pin with pliers. It takes a little muscle but if I can do it...

BTW, I only put on the diffuser, it may be a little tougher to use that method on the chin spoiler, but I know some here have done it.

I ran in to the same problem, being it was late Sunday night and I'm a backyard mickey mouse mechanic, I drilled smaller holes and used big head aluminum rivits that I had and then painted the heads black. I'll tell you what, that bad boy will NEVER fall off!!!!

It's not...the plastic rivets that come with the diffuser are 1/4". I've got a larger rivet gun for 1/4" metal rivets and got it to work, but I had to raise the car because the handles on the gun were so long.

More or less what I did. They had painted my spoiler and installed it so they were more then happy to lend me the rivet gun. I wish I brought a blanket:)

"Just go to the dealership or body shop and ask to borrow the tool" yeah a tool he had to buy that he makes his living with and feeds his family with. why not give the guy 20 dollars to do it on his lunch hour? Oh and to show Im not the a$$ everyone thinks I am . Just use 1/4 inch bolts, nuts and flat washers. It will snug up a lot more tighter. work from the center out.

So there I was in my garage at around midnight installing my chin spoiler!! I didn't realize I needed that gun. So, My buddy held the outside of the rivit with needle-nose, while I yanked the $hit out of the center to put them in. It came out perfect, but I would seriously recommend getting the gun. I just have no patience, and "had" to have it right then. Plus the beers, oh yeah the beers, thank god it came out right!!

This is how we installed the rear air diffuser AND the chin spoiler. No problem with 2 people!

No rear air diffuser for me today. The parts guys at the dealer ordered the wrong part. I went in to pick up the part and they say, "Here is your cargo bin." And I say,"Great as long as there is a rear diffuser inside the cargo bin then we're all set." He looked at me with a puzzled look on his face for a good 5 seconds before he said,"what?" Apparently the part numbers were one digit off.

Now I have to wait til Tuesday. I was hoping to get this installed before the future wife gets home tomorrow so I wouldn't have to explain it.

Oh well, no biggie.

I decided I wanted to paint my chin spoiler the body color so I cut it off and painted and reinstalled with my OWN rivet gun.Now I have a plastic rivet gun in my rollaway that I can use whenever.

Finally got the rear diffuser from the parts people. One question, do you guys think it can be installed in a couple hours? I have a road trip at 1230 tomorrow and would like to get it mounted and wash the car. It looks simple enough...

Should be no problem whatsoever if you've got the tool and/or technique for attaching the rivets.
