Well, I have been using Dupont's new line of products for a couple of weeks now. Specifically, the car wash, premium wax, detail spray, tire protectant, and wheel cleaner. The marketing gimmick is they encorporate Teflon into all the products. Here are my thoughts...

Dupont Ultra Premium Car Wax - Thought I was liking the product at first. With a white car, it is sometimes tough to tell how good a wax is leaving the paint upon wiping off. Once I looked closer and from different angles, I saw that residue was being left behind, even after a bit of elbow grease. Goes on great, but just doesn't want to come off clean. Doesn't leave the surface as slippery as one would expect a "Teflon impregnated" product, either. I won't be using up this bottle.

Dupont Tire Shine - Pretty much like some good ol' fashioned Armour All. Sprays on and soaks in. I think it lasts longer, though. Also seems to keep the tire blacker longer. I like this product very much as I am a fan of a nice tire "sheen" as opposed to a "gloss". Does not "sling" all over the side of the car. Will continue to use this product.

Dupont Car Wash - Suds up nicely, rinses off quickly, and seems to "slick up" the surface making washing a breeze. I will continue to use.

Dupont Wheel Cleaner - Nothing special here. Seems to work like it should. Can also be used as a debugger, so it may not be as potent as some cleaners. Doesn't bother me since I don't let my wheels get that dirty, and I like the fact I can soak the front end after a road trip to get rid of the guts without having to buy another bottle to store. Will continue to use.

Dupont Quick Care Detailer - Love it. Spreads with ease and dries right up, leaving no streaks. Seems to replenish the paint, leaving a nice gloss. But enough words... I'll let the pic below speak for itself. Remember, this is a white car!

Hope this info helps anybody looking into Dupont's products.

Well, I guess I will be sure to only post wax threads only if the word "Zaino" is in them. LOL

You should of put that Z word in the title to attract the attention.. :)

Do you remember the cost of the detailer spray?

Yeah, this thread title should be:

Dupont Beats Zaino?

:)

Thanks for the info on the Dupont products!

Glad you appreciate the review, gang.

elcobra44, the cost of the detail spray was around $6. Pretty reasonable price for a pretty nice product. In fact, all of the products were pretty reasonably priced. You can get an idea here... http://www.autobarn.net/dutese.html

Chill, guy! You posted on a holiday eve!

So you liked everything but the wax... nice!

BTW, have you tried Formula 113 wax and detailer? This is the easiest stuff ever, and seems to last long and shines great, too. I'm interested in a comparison of 113 and the DuPont stuff.

BTW^2, DuPont has a promotion going, a rebate for any of their products (up to $8.99; $10.99 CAD), through the 13th of October:

Question is... can you cook an egg on your car and not stick? Dupont does have Teflon in it's wax right??? =0)

Griz... appreciate the review of the DuPont car care product line. I have used only the tire/wheel cleaner and I like how it attacks brake dust and rubber oxidation and leaves the tire with what I call a clean, satin finish. I'm not looking for the dark black, "wet" look... just clean and natural. Oh... and I'm a chemist at the complex which makes the bulk TEFLON* brand fluoropolymers and telomers.

I use Gary Kouba's products (Perfect Auto Finish . com - no spaces) for the other stuff.

Haven't tried Formula 113, and am a little afraid to try it after some research I did this weekend. Try Googling "Formula 113 review" (without quotes) and read some of the stuff. You'll have a lot of crap to weed through, but I saw issues reported of micro-marring, or swirling due to the light abrasives in it. Have you been using it for awhile, HC? Do you not see any swirls or "spider webs" in any kind of light?

I am curious about what the guys over at the 300 forums are preaching about. Products can be found here....http://perfectautofinish.com/

:DHey come on now... I'm an analytical chemistry type, so don't get "testy" with me! LOL Besides... us chemist's have GOT to stick together to keep these gear heads straight every now and then. j/k

You can have the charger... I've got the "C"s! I've had a variety of assignments in the TEFLON* part of our site for just over 23 of my 26 years here. Best place to work within the company as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, OK! I can live with that!

PChemist, myself. Teach analytical, though. I'm living up to the old saying: "What's the definition of an analytical chemist? A P-chemist with a job..."

<temp hijack=OFF>

"Better Living, through chemistry..." was a DuPont trademark, wasn't it?

GrizI've been using it for about 2 mos, and haven't had any probs. I tried it on the recommendation of mmaloy whose SRT8 is a show car...

As with any wax/detailer, you need to be careful what you use (pad/cloth/applicator) to apply it.

A PChemist! I was taught undergraduate Analytical by a PChemist... In fact he taught all the other courses too (only Prof. during my small college studies). Didn't enjoy that in the least, but figured Analytical was THE most employable of the disciplines out here in the "real" world... LOL. Guess I was right!

Either way, I needed remedial courses the first year of grad school in the other subjects... organic, P-Chem, Inorganic... By the time I was done I was u-sick ("I Am Music" - populst Barry Manilow song of that day, er, era!). LOL

Thanks Griz for the review. As a new member reading thru a ton of threads, this type of post is what I need. Good honest reviews. This type of post will help me make an intelligent decision, instead of purely guessing or using the trail/error process with car care products.

You are more than welcome, Texas_HEMI. I, too, appreciate thorough reviews, so I try to do them whenever I can to help others.
