View Full Version : Norwalk Raceway Track Rental 9/18/06
I've asked the organizer of this event (sable from LS1GTO.com) to extend this invitation to the chargerforum's members. This spring we had around 40 cars of various makes from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana attend a similar event.
32 cars are already signed up...mostly GTOs, Mustangs and F-Bodys.
Here is the origional post:
Norwalk has been scheduled again!!!
www.norwalkraceway.com
To make things interesting we have joined with BuckeyeStangs.com and LS1Tech.com to increase the turnout and decrease the cost.....heck...to have some fun too!! The track rental is not limited to members of these forums, if you know of anyone who would like to join in please have them sign on so they can reserve their spot also.
Official Date is September 18th from 9am to 1 pm.
Pricing will be based on the number of spots filled. If we fill at the least 40-45 spots the final cost will be around $35 per vehicle, free for anybody who just wants to come watch. This is with the track prepped to 330 ft and both lanes open. It also includes 2 track staff to run the starter and the time slips. There will be an ambulance on site and the tower will be set for Sportsman (but we can switch it if we'd like). And again the concession stand by the staging lanes will be open!
FYI - There is an additional fee for oil cleanup/etc. if you have an issue while going down the track. If somebody should spill their oil and/or cause additional charges they will be responsible for picking up that extra cost. (FYI - max fee is $100 per cleanup)
Reserve your spot today!!!
To reserve your spot a $10 non-refundable deposit is required. (This counts towards the total cost of course)
The final payment will be determined early September and final payment will be required a minimum of a week out. As we get closer to the event specific dates will be posted.
The cap on this is 60 cars so reserve your spots NOW!!
I will post updates here as I get them.
Payment is preferred via Paypal but if you prefer another form of payment please PM me for arrangements. Paypal is sablejar@hotmail.com and please include your name and user ID (and forum) so I can properly track the info. If the maximum of 60 spots are filled quickly we will consider starting a reserve list in case of cancellation - To be determined later...
If any chargerforums members are interested in racing at this event I'll maintain a sign-up list in this thread.

Hey ladies!!! (ha ha ha!!)
I've run into a few of you guys at Summit and a few times on the freeway.
Always seemed to be a good group of guys that just love to talk about cars.
Here's your chance to come out and see what your machine can do. Why not come out?
This will be like the big three - GM, FORD, DODGE....going to be a sweet event! Thus far we have 34 people signed up with a 50/50 mix of Fords and GM's. You guys need to jump in on this and represent. It's going to be a great time!!!
This is all in good fun!!
PS... Jabbing for fun is OK but try not to get carried away.
Here are the links to the threads in the other forums should you want to check it out.

By the way, I frequent D42 somewhat often...surprised I haven't run into you yet...(I'm only there on test and tune nights, too chicken to actually race anybody but myself)

We are doing a $10 deposit to hold spots and come September we will determine the final amount due (less the deposit of course). This is per car. Spectators are free.
In the past we got screwed by no shows etc so that is why we are doing the deposit and final payment before the event. That way we don't show up and have to pay twice as much each because half of the people no show on us.

To the top!
From reading past posts, I know CHERRY has been trying to get the Chargers in the NE Ohio area to get together for a few events so what better way then to see your cars in action and what better way to meet other Charger enthusiasts throughout the region.
Lets explain the format of this rental. This is run as a Test N Tune...meaning that guys just line up and try to run and get a new personal best. This is not being organized as a competion ...not a Charger vs Mustang vs GTO vs F-body thing.
This is also a good format for those that are new to drag racing, what to just try it to see what it's like or for those that only bring there car out a few times a year. From a value stand point this is also the best in that you'll be able to get more attempts then if you took it to the track on an open to the public Test and Tune and had to wait in line in the sea of ricers to run.
Hope to see more of you guys sign up and join CHERRY at this event.

The main thing to do is to find out how to launch without spinning your tires and losing traction...ask some other members here what's been working for them. How good you do will be based on the time you get in the first 60 feet...after that for an automatic its just floor it and keep it in a strait line.

GMR Speed has decided to sponsor our event!!! I would like to be the first to throw out a big welcome and thank you to GMR Speed for picking up a sponsorship at this event!!
What does that mean for us??
That means the track fee will be reduced for each of us and we'll have some pros on hand!!!
Big thanks goes out to Leo and crew at GMR! Glad to have you aboard!!
Also take note of #41 on the list. Al Noe the owner of Stainless Works will be bringing his car. This would be a great time to talk to him about getting a deal on the LT headers and exhausts that his company manufacturers for the Charger.

OK guys,
I just in touch with one of my friends out by Cedar Point and he said that he will come as well. It is a 1965 Black Mustang Hardtop with a 331 cubic inch small block and a crash box 5 speed transmission. He shifts at 8,800 rpm and it has a two stage N2O on it as well. Car runs 9.20 through the exhaust  .
So SABLE if possible would you like to meet at SUMMIT RACING tommorrow, so I can pay you ?? If not I will send you out a check on Monday for $20.00

If you could please get that in by the end of the month it would be appreciated by all those on the reserve list! LOL (should determine if a spot will open for them!! LOL)
Again, A big thanks goes out to GMR for making this price possible!!!!
Please send this in to us in the same mannor as the deposit...include user ID, full name, brief car info and I will add this too my spreadsheet and bring copies for everyone to the track so you can put some names to the car owners etc. This will again help us track everything as well and minimize confusion.

I am coming loaded for bear and hoping to go some 13.95 @ 101 not much more than my BEST but something better as NORWALK is suppose to have the best traction of any local track. With a little luck, maybe even a 1.99 sixty footer as well.

I did make one back to back run to see for myself the change after cooling her down. Did I get help? Well this guy came over and gave me a few pointers, you may have heard of him. His name was CHERRY! Need I say more?
Ha ha!! Yep. Being your first time you could hot lap just to get use to it and it won't hurt you any. Hot lapping will hurt you more once you are more consistant on your technic. Then you'll be able to see the effects more...
Hope we see you guys again at the next rental in April!

4DEATER, way to uphold the Charger honor!   Looks like you put together some really nice runs. I hope I can do the same when I get a chance to put my R/T on the track for my first time.
I Look forward to seeing you and your SRT at the dyno days Cherry is putting together next saturday. I've not seenor heard one up close. There just doesn't seem to be any around my area.
