how many people think that the yellow Chargers are cop magnets due to their high visibility ? I think I get away with a lot of my high speed in town driving because of my cars' color. (it flys below the radar so to speak)

The police caught me doing a burnout at an intersection and gave me the thumbs up. That being said, I could pretty much get away with speeding anytime / anywhere when I drove my silver VW GTi.

Knock on wood, no tickets... yet...

Good answer. One way to alleviate the problem is to drive no more than 5 miles over the speed limit. Then you dont have to worry about it. That may not be the most macho answer but it is true. OK everyone, all at once now. Rowdy is a p*ssy.

I have a black r/t and I got a ticket for going 80 in a 70. This was complete b.s. I was making a pass and keeping with the flow of traffic. The cop didn't care. This is a $188.00 ticket!!!

From the Mighigan "What Every Driver Must Know" book:

"Passing
When passing other vehicles, always check your rearview and side-view mirrors for any overtaking traffic. Use your turn signal to indicate your intentions. Check blind spots by turning your head to see if you can safely move from your lane without interfering with traffic. It is illegal to exceed the speed limit or use the shoulder of the road to pass. When about to pass a vehicle on a divided highway, move into the passing lane well before passing."

As many bored cops as I have here in town, I've been waiting to get pulled over, but so far its just the smile and wave or stare and drool. As for the myth about brightly colored or black colored cars getting pulled over more, its not a myth. At least in TN, cops are more likely to pull over ostentatiously colored cars. Even blue-purple 4Runners. They figure we're younger, less mature and more likely to be "up to somethin'".

A radar (with sufficient power) is capable of cooking a pig!

ahahahaha damn. could be glazed donuts.

We have alot of overpaid and underworked traffic cops where i live who drive around 24hrs a day giving out tickets to old people and young alike for some of the dumbest stuff alive. so far i havent had any problems with my bright yellow daytona and i have no front liscense plate and im always going 5mph over.

to prove how idiotic the traffic cops are, this mid 20's beat cop pulls over this 70 year old lady because she didnt signal into our office buildings. there was maybe 1 other car on the road about 3 blocks away. she did get the fine. save the world piggy.

If / when I become a cop I will not smell like pork, I will smell like dohnuts!

<in the voice of Homer Simpson> "Dohnuts is there anything they can't do?"

Now I got the munchies for dohnuts.... ROAD TRIP!

There are quite a few forum members that are in law enforcement.... so 2 words please; "Be Nice".

As a former officer, laws are enforced to protect everyone otherwise there would be chaos. Yeh, I know of some cops that are just asses about specific things or nit pick on tickets..... but they are few. Everyone I wrote up (which was few due to the criminal call load we had... no time for tickets) was well deserved.

I remember what my dad said when I received my first ticket at 16 years old; "you were just the unlucky one that got caught". Also, think about all the ones you should have received and did not.

Most cops are cool. Treat them with respect, be polite and hope for the best. But could we be a little less insulting on our forum ?

I really love dohnuts, right now I am in the US Army and want to be a cop (law enforcement officer) after I retire from the Army. With the training I have in the Army, I'd really like to do Substance abuse enforcment/education.
In Newport News, VA the city police recruit retired/getting out military, due to our training. So I have been told by one of the recriuters, they do not like to hire ex- MP's, they are hard to train to get used to Civilian Laws and rights. Plus the paperwork is differant than Military and it is harder to teach an old dog new tricks.

Sorry if you or any other police officer is offened, may want to get tougher skin and join in.

I love doughnuts, but don't have any interest in being a LEO. Is there something wrong with me? :(
