I really liked the Charger when they came out.
I really ,really liked the Bananas and Mangos,
but 2 Sundays ago, I saw my first TorRed. W O W ! It was on the Dodge dealership lot.
I was at the dealership at 7:30 the next morning waiting for a salesman to show up. When the first salesman got there, I said, Hi, I'm buying THAT car this morning.
It really turns heads. Mine included :)

I just bought No. 1853 of 2000. Awesome car. Love it. She's tucked in for the night in the garage with a fresh polish and detail job.
Test drove the SRT8 last week and never expected to like the daytona as much as I do. It is fun as hell to drive and people sure check it out. I'm glad I didn't buy the school bus looking one last week!!!

Well, if it does, it's fer sure the TorReds will be rarest of the bunch. More SRT8s at this point than Daytonas.

Actually, from an experienced collector's perspective, this car actually has the potential to retain or gain value better than just about any other make for 06. I didn't buy it because I'm a raving Dodge fan or anything. I got it because I needed a four-door for the occasional clients and I get my jollies in fast cars. It also happens that this particular Daytona will likely be the most desireable from a new model special edition. Plus I liked the color - LOL.

Outside of my Daytona will remain stock, except for window tinting (done), probably rims and tires, and maybe an SRT hood. But planning to keep stock parts just in case. With all the modding going on with these cars it will be rare to see a stock Daytona or any other Charger for that matter. In the back of my mind thinking about the collectability but that will be determined by how many Daytonas are produced overall. I do agree that if you plan to mod the outside heavily it makes more sense to get an R/T or SRT. But to each is own . . . . . . .

I noticed that the black hood stuff usually picks up stains pretty fast - and it seems hard to keep clean. Can you wax that part, or does it just turn white-ish if you attempt to apply a wax to the black parts of the daytona?

Been asking the same thing myself - out here in New Mexico I'm worried the sun will scorch the thing clear off the hood! All I've learned so far is DON'T use Armorall, because it will certainly turn it white. If I ever find out an answer I really believe, I'll start a whole thread about it!

Man, I can't believe how good the Daytona is :) I went to South Bend this weekend to watch the ND/UM game.... the Daytona trim has to be the best GT setup in the Chrysler Group.... the 300c is kind of mushy and distant but the Daytonas are set up almost perfectly. The car is docile at cruising speeds but man, it'll just instantly morph into something else when you goose the throttle. And it looks 10000x better than everything else out there :)

I bought my Charger from Gary Mathews Motors in Clarksville, but not off the internet. I was stationed at Ft. Campbell from 93-94 and bought quite a few vehicles from them since then. In fact, every vehicle I own at this time is from them. I made freinds with one of the salesmen there and have bought from him for 13 yrs now. At first I called him to see if he had any GTO's at the store in another part of Tenn. He did so I went and test drove 2 goats at local dealerships. While driving both of the GTO's both at around 125 had a front end shimmy and didn't like that one bit. So I called him back and ask him what SRT models he had on his lot. He only had an SRT6. I then went to a local dealer in MD and test drove the Daytona, in Torred and well here we are!

The dealer then informed me this one was bought but their is one more outside just like the one I was sitting in. He tried for 2 hours to get me to test drive it(the one outside) ;) i finally gave in and went for a drive and now look what happened!


what made me upset was, the Dealer Stated that the Charger was purchased over the internet in the morning, and it was still sitting their all Day and they were letting people sit in her... i was like WTF, i mean once I found out it was purchased I got my butt out of it

Saw a 2007 TorRed Charger at United Dodgeland (Las Vegas) today. Looked pretty nice. It had a HEMI, sun roof, nav, and lether. MSRP was $33,000 and change. Total dealer asking price was $38,000.00 The only add ons the dealer was showing was window tint and wheel locks. $5,000 markup for locks and tint...doesn't make sense to me. :confused:

Not a clue about the June thing (the first photo I posted from June is of MY car), all I know is that they had 3 TorReds at the time and were aggressively looking to get rid of them. I took mine simply because it was one of two identically fully-loaded units and it was the one I had test driven, so it was literally the evil I knew versus the one I didn't. I forget exactly which ones were the other two at the time, but I think yours was one of them. Of course, they could have sold the other two and gotten this one in as exchange, but I doubt it... production was in early spring this year, and I'd be surprised if a dealership would go out of its way to pick up additional limited edition vehicles after giving me the type of deal I got in June, where it seemed obvious they were really after a way to get rid of them.

Anyway, remember this: politicians and car salesman... 'nuff said.
My salesman was mr. Daoust (seen in photo I posted of my car), seemed like a genuine type of guy but maybe he was just good at his game. :lol:

In the end, hopefully you got a smoking deal and you're happy with the car, that's what really matters.

As for the winter tires, I did not go the 'steel wheels' route. I picked up a set of practically brand new non-R&T wheels (without the black paint) and put some Blizzaks on them. They are sitting in my garage waiting for end of November, which is what the longterm forecast is calling for the first snow (even then, the next days following are sunny, so maybe some melting will occur).

Yeah, I think the best route woulda been getting nice looking aluminum wheels - but they were just way more expensive than the steelies. Of course, once you add the price of the TPMS valve stem, fancy collared lug nuts, and a hub caps... I think I got owned :(

One annoying thing I've noticed is that a lot of people will slow down when in front of me, I usually see them looking in the rear view mirror at the car. Not fun when you're on a 1 lane back road.

Curiously, I never got this reaction when I drove my Marauders, even decked out in winter trim (all black steel wheels and winter tires, with the chrome center caps, 20% tint all around, etc). No one even flinched, I was expecting them to at least momentarily think it was an unmarked cop car.

:devil: Torred# 1021 and Top Bannana# 2177 are in Huber Heights Ohio. I have the Torred and my wife has Top Bannana. She has been caught 3 times for speeding. Thank God I got the Torred which I don't think attracks as much attention. Knock on wood I haven't been caught yet. I have nicknamed mine the Tazmaninan Devil :devil:
