I picked up my Charger in the spring and was immediately disappointed with the detail (or lack there of) of the Manitoba maps.
After a relentless pursuit of the details I found that the car can with the 'AC' nav disk and the dealer said that was the most up-to-date one out. With the information I gained on this site I spoke to the dealer and they seemed lost on the subject.
Taking matters into my own hands I took the part number to the dealer and ordered the 'AD' disk at my own expence ($290 !!).
The disk arrived and it does have a comprehensive map of Winnipeg and province. I got on the phone with DC Canada and told them how disappointed I was with them in that their vehicles did not come with the most up-to-date software. Low and behold DC Canada pulled one out of the hat and asked me to fax the invoice to them and then sent me a 'one-time' cheque for the cash I dealt out.
Problem solved.

Wow, it pays to bit@h sometimes! Question: how do you know what disc you have? A lot of my area detail is a couple of years old too and would like to try this also!

There are a couple of ways to tell which disk you have in your vehicle. The easiest is to look at the CD case's part #. The most up-to-date version is 05064033AD (thus the reference to 'AD'). Pervious versions are 'AC' ..'AB'... etc.
Another method is to go through the Nav menu and scroll down to 'Vehicle Info'. Next select 'Software Version'. The AD disk loaded shows:
Application Version : 01.44.00
Database Version: 05.0404.00.200521.0005
The manual method is to pull the disk the is currently loaded. At the bottom of the Nav unit is a small CD door that says 'Navigation Disk'. This door has to be manually removed by pressing down on a small clip on the left hand side. Once the cover is off, on the right hand side is a small button which will eject the Nav disk. Viola...

Great post! thanks for that. I'm gonna go look RFN to see what is in my NAV system. Because there is no part number visible on my CD case.

OK... It would appear that I have an antiquated version. These are my numbers. I didn't see anything about AD AC AB.
Application version: 01.44.00
DataBase Version: 0303.00.031604.006

When you call chrystler, what number do you call? I tried to call 1-800-4ADodge, but all they would do is give me the number for alpine. (who make Dodges radios) I called Alpine, and they want their $150.00 for the disk no if's ands or buts :(

From what I've seen online, updates rate about $200 dollars. Now from what I've been told since I've posted this Mopar doesn't have the updated version at all? The parts guys at MacLang's are having fun trying to find it. I happened to be going north on Friday morning and thought it would be in and ready for pickup but they had not rec'd one yet, so I am still waiting. I will post as soon as I get it in.

Well I should of had my updated disc by now, seems that my dealer sent it to me Purolator? I work 12 hr days so I haven't called the depot or checked the mail in a while. I will be doing that tomorrow. My dealership has either got Dodge or Mopar to pay for this unless they absorbed the cost themselves, I am not sure. I was to pick it up myself last Friday on my way up north but they claimed it was sent? I was disappointed because I wanted to see if it would show Northern Ontario.
I recently used the nav system to go to the Pearson airport in Toronto but I also used my Garmin at the same time in case I had too many omissions with the Alpine system. Turns out the Nav system worked very well for this trip.
I will be going north again in two weeks time and look forward to using the system with the update.

Well folks, save yourself the money if you have to pay for your upgrade, it's not all that great. I am still not impressed with the system. My dealer did pay for mine, thumbs up for them though!
