does anyone know if the honey comb grill can be chromed? or if their is an after market crhome honeycomb? I'm waitng for an SRT-Bkack, but I think a nice chrome grill would look great, and what about the SRT badge, If I change the grille what will happen to the SRT badge?

I think it is hilarious that some of the SRT guys want Chrome while some of the R/T guys want color-keyed! We always want what we don't have, don't we??? I have an R/T and I would LOOOOVVVE a color-keyed front grill... (Inferno Red)

I only have the chrome ones from the R/T's as of now.
I might get more as I install new grills in these cars in the future. When and if I get any colored ones I will let everyone know.

NOT EASY!!!! The way they have you taking off the WHOLE front end for four screws! I made a tool (small cross screw driver to get to the two outside screws!!) I can send it to you if you want! lol

the entire front bumper....it was a pain in butt...just alot of process...not hard at all....but i found out that there is an easier way.....do a search and a guy did it without taking off the bumper...just have to be able to get under the car i guess....me - i took the whold dang thing off, but i love the look.
i got my 1970 chrome dodge charger emblem in and put it on the honeycomb - love the look but i ended up moving it over for the red r/t emblem i am going to order...true 1970 total look on the front end.

It was not easy for me! (laughing) I wanted to hit a mustang, I was so fustrated!
I stopped half way through taking off the front end! (not just the bumper... the whole nose of the car is part of the bummper) I made that tool... four screws and the grille came right out!!!!I t would have taken 10 mins if I though of making that little tool from the get go!

Yea I will call brian and tell him that everyone is refering him to get grill R/T badges but all you will get is the rear R/T badge with adhisive backing. I called them twice no call back and no resolve I will call again tomorrow and see if they tell me something different then this is all Dodge has come out with. I know other people have got the grill badge with the bolt inserts on the rear so until Leeparts fixes my problem I will not refer them anymore.

OK guys just got off the phone with Brian from Leeparts.com. You will have to wait for him to finish doing the research because the R/T emblem that is now available in the system is not going to mount on any Charger grill. It is almost the same size as the deck lid emblem and has double sided tape on it not mounting posts.

We have done a ton of research on the R/T Grille Emblem. We have ordered a variety of emblems in. We even got a Daytona Vin# and double checked the part number with Chrysler. According to Chrysler the R/T Adhesive emblem is the correct emblem for the Daytona R/T. We took some pictures of two different style emblems and how they mount. We feel that if the adhesive emblem is mounted correctly there would never be a problem. If someone did have a problem we would replace the emblem. We have also seen many pictures of the Daytona R/T with two different R/T emblems on it. The early pictures from Chrysler show the slash being chrome. Actual pictures we have seen of cars that are on the street have a slash that is the same color as the R and T
Here is an R/T emblem that mounts through the grille. Due to the large size of the openings a fairly large washer would need to be used and would show through.
http://www.leeparts.com/graphics/rt1.jpg
http://www.leeparts.com/graphics/rt2.jpg
Here is the R/T adhesive emblem. Again we feel there is enough material sticking to the grille and there should not be any problems.
http://www.leeparts.com/graphics/rt3.jpg
http://www.leeparts.com/graphics/rt4.jpg
Again if anyone had any problems, we would replace the emblem

fubaracing,
There are four screws that hold the grille in place. The two in the center are easy to get to, but the out two are a pain. You remove the upper black covers, so you can get your hands behind the grille. You have to stick your whole hand and arm behind the grille to get to these two screws. But it alot easier that removing the whole front.

Here's a quick and dirty description of doing it without taking off the nose clip:
What I did was take the plastic cover off the bottom of the car and then take these two black plastic "air guides" loose so I could get a better shot at the outside screws (you have to unhook them at the top as well). These "air guides" are pieces that run from the top of the grille to the bottom of it, just on the outside of it. Basically, when air comes in, they keep it forced into the radiator instead of flowing around it. Sorry if this seems obvious, but wasn't really sure how to explain what you're looking for. Anyway, once they're loose, they're still in your way, but they'll give more. On the driver side, I actually managed to shove that one in towards the center enough that I could come at the screw from the outside with a full length screw driver. But, I've got that cold air intake, I'm betting with a stock air box, it'll be in your way. You might want to pull that off, too. The passenger side, man, that was the worst. Had to twist my arm back to from the center, and use the shortest, stubbiest driver I had. I still had to force that air guide to make room even then.
I'd recommend looking around and seeing if you can't find a ratchet type screw driver, one that has a pivot so you can bend it 90 degrees. I used to have one, but when I needed it was nowhere to be found. I tried using a regular ratchet, but didn't have any magnetic bits, so they'd just fall out of the socket.
But wait, it gets better! After you have the four screws off, there are still these tabs that are snapped into the body of the car. If you look at the replacement grille, you should see them pretty easily and can figure out where they are in the car. I had to shove like the devil on them from the back while pulling on the grille from the front for the top ones. The bottom ones weren't as bad.

These notes and comments are good. But we need a forum space for these tech faqs. That way they can be improved over time with pictures and tips.
Thanks for collecting and posting everything so far.
autoguy

Actually a 1/4" drive ratchet with a phillips tip socket works the best and all 4 can be removed without removing any other parts other than the black plastic covers between the facia and the rad support.
As far as the tabs go, you need to push down on the top ones and pull up on the bottom ones to release them from their slots in the facia.
Also, be careful when you release the tabs and the grill comes out. If you pull too hard and it lets loose, you can scratch the upper part of the bumper cover with the grill.

I tried that, believe me, I did. I mean, it's obvious from looking at the one I was about to put in how it should work, but those top two tabs gave me an absolute fit.

I plan installing my new grill (w/ inserts) tonight. After reading this thread and seeing the tool that was devised to accomplish the task without removing the entire fascia, I purcased a tool very similar to this:
http://i6.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/c9/05/05_2.JPG
Will this be sufficient to remove/install the grill without fascia removal? the long steel piece can be removed to shorten the total length of the screwdriver.

why not use a small socket wrench? if you put the philips bit into a (I'm guessing 1/4 in.) socket it should fit pretty well, I'd think.

That little stubby screw driver will work for the center two, but it is still too long for the outer two screws.
The idea of a 1/4" drive socket wrench with a 1/4" socket and a 1/4" hex phillips bit is the way to go. That is what I use for grill removal.
