Ok peeps -
I'm a member of Dodge Truck World (DTW) Texas Chapter. Every spring and fall we attend the Laps for Charity event at the Texas Motor Speedway. Basically its 3 laps around the track for a fee (usually $20-$30) and a pic of you and your car in the winner circle for another $10.
There is a pace car, and you are (supposedly) limited to 70mph, but we always lag bag, get some distance on the person in front of us, and I've run my truck up to 105 before. Usually there are 20 vehicles on the track at a time.
The next event is May 13th, and we will be there about 4:00 pm out front by the main entrance. Just look for all the Dodge trucks.
DTW will have anywhere from 10-20 trucks there. Anyone here interested in joining up with us? Usually we'll plan to go somewhere and eat after the festivities.

I have done this before as well. From what I heard, if there are laggers in the group, the pace car will then go slower. Makes sense so the laggers don't have enough room to kill themselves. I think I averaged ~ 80 MPH in my runs. Be carefull high in the 1st bank. There is an infamous dip that hit with any reasonable amount of speed will cause your car to float and can be very surprising.
Also, the car group I went with always wanted to be first so I don't know from personal experience. I hear that towards the end of the night is when to get some of the fastest laps in.

This is the official site. This past Spring they did something different that worked well.
If you were wanting to run in a group, they let everyone stage out front, sign up, etc outside the track. Then when you were ready, they escorted your group in so you didn't get other people mixing in your group. It worked very well.
This fall I think I am actually going to run seperate from my group. That way I can get some good video footage of the crew when they run.
They also have a spectator parking area inside the pits so you can park and watch from the infield.

Cowtown Mopars is planning on having our Saturday Cruise GTG at the Sept 9th Laps for charity event.
We are trying to get the crew from Dodge Truck World, and Dodge Talk to hang with us outside the track. Is anyone here interested in joining us?
We are looking at brining our grill trailer out and making some grub. For anyone interested we are asking $3 donation to help offset the cost of non-club member.

You just do it there. We stage outside, move to the infield in groups so we can all run together, then pay once you are in the staging lanes. then just wait for your lane to hit the track. you can also get your pic taken with your car in Victory Lane for an additional $10.
It's setup well, and you don't have to wait long once you stage inside.
I should know this week what time Cowtown Mopars is going to meet there. This is going to be our Saturday Cruise night event, so the club will bet there for quite a long time. I will add everyone to our list.
For anyone interested in on the food, let me know so we have an idea how much to purchase.
Please check the other forum that I have with a running list of attendees:
