Newby here. I just recently purchased a 2010 5.7L Charger in "Brilliant Black".

I would like to either upload some of my iPod music into the HDD or run my iPod through the sound system and be able to control it using the music controls.

Unfortunately, it does not look like I have the right options to do so (I don't have uconnect) and the iPod music formats are too large - I can only download a total of 24 songs.

As best as I can tell, I need to convert the songs to mp3. Unfortunately, all my efforts to do so has been for naught because the songs I would like to convert are protected. I have tried two online services and downloaded and tried two other freeware apps that also failed.

So...

1) Can I still use a UCI cable (if I purchase one - I could not find one in the car) and run my iPod in this manner?

2) Is there anyway I can convert the iPod mp4 format to mp3?

Thanks in advanced.

Do you have ITunes? If so, right click on the song and left click "create MP3 version".

I've tried that. I receive a message that the songs I selected (purchased songs) are protected.

mmm ask your dealer, about the ipod integration, is not very expensive for your model, if you donīt have u-connect (if you have, 50 dlls for the cable) you will spend 100 dlls average...

good luck

To get around the protected aac file on itunes: Burn the songs on to a music CD. Then take the CD you just created, put it back into the computer and import the songs in to itunes as MP3 files or regular AAC files that you can convert to MP3. Your older downloads were Protected AAC. Apple has made deals with the record companies recently so that you can share the files. New downloads are now Purchased AAC, but you may pay more for a new single. The HDD in your car wants MP3. It does not recognize Apple's AAC format. I think the HDD in your car is close to 6 gig. Should hold close to 1,000 songs. Not sure though, I only have a few hundred on mine. I've never maxed it out. Good Luck!
