Just wondering what your insurance companies classify the Chargers at? I heard...family sedan?....Any info is appreciated....
I am eliminating possible cars with insurance prices...but I don't want to call the insurance co. for every car...I am payin 2100 right now per year...2 accidents...1 deer, totalled a plymouth breeze(maybe a good thing...)
the 2100 is goin towards my modded Honda Accord! omg! import dude!...just help me out...haha...I love all cars...just want the next one I get to 1) have power from the beginning 2)not cost me a fortune... 3) have great power potential
Superchargers for this in the progress?
oh one mor ething, ALL automatics? that really pissed me off at chargers...they should be manuals also...manuals rule...not even the SRT8 is manual...

The vehicles "classification" has very little to do with the fact that is a sedan. Most insurance companies are going to look at driver history, state, replacement cost, theft rates for model, total gross weight (the more it weighs the more damage it does when it hits something) and horsepower. From there they will give you "credits" (take less of your money) for safetly features like ABS, ESP, multi-stage airbags, side curtain airbars, and vehicle security system. Of course your deductible will have alot to do your total bill
As a point of reference my "weekend racer" is a 96 Z28 Camaro SS which is worth about $18K with mods and is a 5.7L V8 and seat belt and a driver side airbag. The total insurance bill on that ride is about $900 for a comp plan with a $1000 deductible. The bill for my new loaded Charger R/T with Road & Track group has an MSRP of $39,824 350HP 5.7 HEMI and hefty 4200+ curb weight cost about $1000 year.
Oh insurance company is Progressive which is awesome to work with!!
Hope that helps you out. Buy the Charger you won't regret it!!

when I was pricing out insurance... the charger daytona was $100 every six months less then my Chevy Avalanche, but the SRT8 charger was almost $400 more then the Daytona every 6 months.
So which model you get affect the insurance as well

The insurance on my brand new R/T was reduced by about $35/mo over what I was paying on my last Mustang.
And I think the 'autostick' is kind of fun if you know how to use it...

elcobra44,
I got the Black RT with RT Perm Group and I love it. Did you get the protection group? I did and I was really surprised at the discount I got for it from progressive!

i just went through this yesturday, I have had Progressive for 10 years, and when i insured the Charger, with my Impala ss, and the Caprice, it was $1500 a year, I changed to my homeowners policy, and they dropped it 300 bucks (car) and my house policy for the home is due to drop more than 100.
Patrons classifed my Charger as a performance sedan, so it was a little more than a standard sedan.

Insurance Update, just got the actual bill with the discount for the protection group and it came in at $846 per year. That is a pretty nice $154/year break for a $500 add on that has the added benefit of protecting your melon in a side impact.

I can't wait until competition results in those add-ons becoming standard! hey are a very good idea!

I'm in the same boat as others on this. I was shocked that my insurance went down when I got the charger. And I was coming from...ah well... a 4cyl VW Jetta, smaller engine and $10,000 less than the Charger.
Call your insurance with a VIN number of the car you want (you can get it from Dodge.com) and have them run a quote for you.
Good luck, and buy it...you won't regret it!!

Oiy, late reply, but State Farm did NOT give me anymore of a discount for ordering the Protection Group. However, my full coverage only costs me like $60 a month.

Wow... my insurance only went up 40 for every 6 months when I went from my Daytona to the SRT8... and due to my wifes accident my car is cheaper to insure then her Vibe... which is funny

06 Charger SE
06 Charger Daytona
97 GMC Safari
03 H-D FXDWG (Wide Glide)
77 Catalina (liability only)
the insurance for the Charger is cheaper than my old Car - 05 Hyundai Elantra
We have State Farm and get discounts for all orts of stuff
We currently have an excellent driving record, though i am convinced my husband is trying to change using the Daytona

When he's not looking, pull fuse 17 so the car will be in limp mode.
