OK I just installed the REC I got from a member in Texas. Everything is working perfectly except it thinks I am still in Texas rather than California!

I drove around for 30 minutes and it moves around the map, at times it shows that it is seeing 3 satillites at time....but it still thinks I am outside Houston.

What do I need to do to make it believe I am in California?

Pleae Help!!!!!

where did you put the gps antenna? This happened to me when I bought mine from someone far away, but all I had to do was run it for a few inutes and it picked up my location. You are probably not seeing enough satellites to get a good fix.

Yeah I figured the same thing. But after I drove around and I was monitoring how many satellites the unit was seeing, not change. At times it was seeing 3 satellites at a time. Yet it still thinks I'm in Texas.

where is the antenna mounted? i think it likes 5 satalites, i could be wrong.

It is mounted under the dash right above the REC unit. I was told this would work with no problems.

At one point I pulled the antenna out and put it on top of my dash to see if that made any difference and it didnt.

So if I am only hitting 1 to 3 satellites as I drive around (and many times none), could the antenna placement be the issues? If so, where should a mount it?'

Right now it is mounted right behind the frame that holds the REC nav unit in. I have it velcroed in to a spot on the top right side behine the frame. If I should mount it elsewhere, let me know where!

I put mine a little above and to the left of the nav, worked for me. Yours is lower, may be causing the problem

I moved it to directly under the dash. I wired up in between the AC vents and then back under the dash. Nothing seemed to change.

I had the same issue. I plugged in an address and told it to route me... It told me to proceed to the highlighted route which originated in MO somewhere. Then as I drove around, it finally realized that I was actually in MD. Ever since then, its worked correctly.

Just remember it takes 3 satellites minimum to get your position, and 4 to tell you what you're elevation is. If you're only getting between 1-3 it sounds like it's not getting a strong signal. I would just try to put in on the dash for a day and see what happens. FYI: Mine usually has 6 satellites it connects to.

what all did you need to make the swap work?

I got it working there was debris inside where the antenna jack clicks in. So I blew it out with compressed air a it works!

Don't mail these loose with packaging "peanuts". Or you will end up like me trying to figure it out for 5+ hours!

Congrats, what all needs to be done to make this work?

You need the REC Nav unit, the antenna for the nav, and the bezel. From there it is pretty simple...as long as your antenna works better than mine did originally!

I could install one now in probably 20 min since I have tons of practice.
