Hey there, I'm new to this forum. I am having a hard time choosing a Navi unit for my 07 charger daytona. It's got the stock 6 disc deck in it now and i want to upgrade. I've narrowed it down to Pioneer and Kenwood. I like the Pioneer cause of the hard drive but no built in bluetooth, but i like the Kenwood because of the built in bluetooth and it's got the garmin Navi. I know that i'm going to need the navi bezel.......other than that i'm not sure what else I need. I've heard that i'm going to need a module for the steering controls, can anyone tell me what else it need.
thanks

1000-2000 dollars.
It's a hard choice......and also will putting in a aftermarket void my warranty.

I personally went with an upgrade to the factory REC Nav unit. That way it works easily with my steering wheel controls and EVIC. Not to mention you can get the REC fairly cheaply and install it yourself in 30 minutes.
I wish it had a hard drive, but I also got the iPod adapter. So I can use that as my hard drive.

Are you sure about the units you're looking at. The Pioneer's I've looked at all have had bluetooth in them. And I was told it was the Kenwoods that had hard drives, where as the Pioneers used a nav disc.
There is also Alpine. They're a little more expensive, as you have to buy their Blackbird nav using seperately. What interests me in this unit is that you can use the Blackbird just like a TomTom/Garmin, or dock it with the Apline head unit and use it like an in dash nav unit.
My concern with the REC units is the tendancy for the joystick control to break, and the cost of the nav discs.

The pioneer AVIC Z3 is bluetooth ready, you have to buy the bluetooth Accessory separately. An no Kenwood only have internal memory just for gps maps.

Check out my installation thread at http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108658
I used the Kenwood DNX-7140 (recently released), (Ebay-$980) and intergrated the steering wheel controls no problem with 2 PAC adapters.
The new Kenwoods use built in Garmin GPS software which is very good and easy to use. Software updates are available directly from Garmin.
I looked at the Pioneer head units, their big selling point is the built in harddrive, but I don't really understand the purpose of a hard-drive in a head unit. It sounds cool, but it doesn't do anything purposeful.
The Kenwood has a USB port that I can connect my USB Drive (32GB) or my Ipod Classic (120 gb), and they are portable, meaning I can easily take them to my PC and download more music too them. So what do I need to pay extra for a internal harddrive in the head unit???
Kenwood uses Parrot Bluetooth, which has great functionality, automatically imports my contacts from my Blackberry, so all my contacts appear on the Kenwood, and I can call anyone with one touch. The Parrot Bluetooth is far superior to UCONNECT, as my factory UCONNECT would occasionally fail to connect with my Blackberry. Parrot has never failed to instantly connect with my Blackberry when starting the car.

The 7140 and 9140 are the ones I'm looking at from Kenwood. I have always liked kenwood so they might be the right choice for me. So what all would i need to complete an install on my 07 charger daytona?

Look at the thread linked in my last post.
I thought about the dnx-9140, but I didn't think the second usb port and 5.1 center channel was worth the extra $$$ to me.
The only thing different about your model year and mine (2009) is that I think you need the often-mentioned Nav style dash bezel.

As far as the Pioneers, all of the AVIC F Series come equipped with bluetooth.
They also DO NOT use navigation discs, but store the map information in memory!
where as the Pioneers used a nav disc.

I far as I've read.....the Pioneer F series got crap reviews. Plus I like the no buttons on the face.

Just bought a Alpine W505/P1......I've read the reviews and took the plunge. Just waiting to get it installed and waiting for the bezel.....I'll try to post before and after to show what it looks like. Thanks for everyone's input......greatly appreciated.
