This looks like what I just ordered $262. They claim to match the color of your charger. I'm a little nervous about putting a stick-on hood scope on my charger. But there's always ebay if it looks cheap.

It is not the same scoop.

You are right. The Scoop you posted in the ebay link is different. I have been selling the one that 06Hotrod posted pics of, and it is not the same scoop as the one in the auction.
The One listed in the austin is a 3D Carbon piece which is longer in the points and is made of Urethane with a Stick on front "Screen". The other one is Injection Molded plastic, and has a nice molded inset for the simulated air intake.

They are two different pieces.

Is the decal on the Daytona with a scoop stock cut to fit or is it custom made. I have been wanting the SRT8 hood but I don't want to lose my hood HEMI decal.

It should have come factory with the spoiler, it completes the body line, and interior mods are never rice no matter what they are.. rice are big ass fins... hood scoops that do nothing.. and...

I works to let heat out the rear. As far as an Air Intake, there is a Ram Air Tube hooked up to one of the front bumper vents and it goes directly into the bottom of the Air Box.

It is a little over 400 HP as it sits. I never ran it in the quarter but it is probaly mid to low 14's. Not bad for a 5400lb AWD truck.

I actually belly-laughed at this. Too true, Chargershed. However, when it comes down to it, EVERONE is a poser in some respect. True, it serves no purpose with regards to performance, but even a ball of socks would protect against a swift kick to Mr. Happy, right?

The Charger has unbelievable lines and curves that make it fun just to stare at in your driveway. When you think about it, what purpose is it serving in your driveway? If the fake scoop is considered just an added curve to make the body more aesthetically pleasing, I say, why not? I often look at my car and think that it's lacking a little meat in the front, body-wise, just as guys who want a little something more in the back, like a modest spoiler. Who needs a spoiler, really?

As a ego-less SWAT cop, I know deep down that we're just for show. In the No-Ho BofA shootout, weaponry alone prevailed, by accident. It wasn't tactics or armor (the kill shots in the final shootout were made by the guy in shorts, running shoes and a Tac vest after unwittingly pulling up to the suspect.) We do warrant searches but rarely get to shoot anyone  . Regular Patrol Officers - always the first on scene - can do everything we do, but again, the show alone can be all you need. Otherwise, why have a Charger? Why not the Intrepid? (I have an Intrepid, BTW. ) Performance unto itself is a show. Toasting a slightly lesser car is a show. Full-auto fire is certainly a show. Buzzing a croud with headers and exhaust is a show. Do we need to be that much faster and louder when we're not competing on a track?

Sorry for the epic novel, but all I'm trying to say is that as far as making it look better, I'd put the scoop on a par with tinting, spoilers, rims, decals, emblems, etc. - no real function but at least slightly cooler-looking. Now putting an SRT emblem on an R/T would be silly, and I've seen that:D .

I just can't do it either. Its too 'Mustang and the Fake Vents' syndrome. I'd like an actual scoop that gave my intake some ram-air, but not to be had. A molded scoop is the only way to go THAT actually gives the engine, not engine compartment, air.

The term "rice" is so often misused and abused it has lost any meaning - assuming it ever had meaning.

And by your definition (that the mod must add at least 1hp to qualify as non-"rice") many of the mods I read about these days -- from incorrectly tuned ignition systems and incorrectly-sized cams to incorrectly-geared diffs and incorrectly-sized exhausts -- would qualify as rice simply because the people who add them to their vehicles actually unwittingly decrease their vehicle's performance.

As an aside, the increased drag coefficient caused by most hood scoops results in a loss of vehicle performance equivalent to several horsepower or more. So-called cold-air and ram-air hoods (those with scoops anyway) tend to negate their own performance value. A several horsepower gain due to a colder intake charge or smoother airflow is [usually] negated by the decreased aerodynamics. Consequently most of these products are more show than go. Fortunately I enjoy show as much as I enjoy go.

Quite well-said. Just to add to that, when we do a lot of these "performance" mods, not only do we often lose HP, we actually lose MONEY, too!

Price will be about 1G for the carbon fiber. I'll sign up as a vendor when I get the hoods to make things official. Got a pic of the hood but I'll need to get one in hand and approve it before it can be offered for sale. The hood hasnt been sanded or buffed.

Ronaldrwl,

Which hood scoop is that? Just curious. I'm personally going to go for the Ram Air Hood. It's actually functional with the air box and filter, and it's just about the coolest looking hood I can imagine on this car, even nicer-looking than the SRT hood, which is also beautiful, of course.

For anyone else interested -I'm too lazy to see if anyone has already posted this - it's actually cheaper on their website:

rather than ebay:

http://estore.websitepros.com/802805/Detail.bok?no=439

Not that "functional" is all that functional when it comes to hood scoops, but I'll have to go with the more expensive Ram Air Hood, not only because it serves a modicum of a purpose but, perhaps more importantly, they just look a shtiload cooler and far more convincing. The others I've seen just look plopped on there, precariously. The one that Autoguy sells probably looks the best as far as the fake ones go, IMHO.
